To be fair none of us bought a Range Rover as an investment (some can afford to loose more than others), most of us and I especially include myself bought them to show off a bit and her indoors understands that. Now the S2 240 lotus Exige I bought I did tell her that was an investment |

But won't the anti-diesel measures target Euro 4 cars (and previous)? That might preserve the values of Euro 6 diesels I'd imagine? I guess time will tell, but anyone buying a brand new FFRR (however powered) has to expect heavy depreciation especially in the first couple of years.

"Jaguar Land Rover has launched an education programme to convince buyers that the most modern version of diesel cars produce no more pollution than petrol versions."
Agree with cob, frustrating though it must be. Lots of opinions: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/business/2017/0...ice-rises/ |

Values are falling but that's just the way that the cycle works. The car is the thick end of five years old now. If the problems were just about diesel cars then the new Discovery would be on it's arse instead of selling for almost new money. It's just another version of project fear that most likely will not come to pass.

“Education programs” are never a bad thing; by using facts and reasoned argument to try and establish the truth, it would be like the polar opposite of a Daily Mail campaign and it’s exactly what we need right now! At heart, I’m an environmentalist and get agitated when people start talking about removing emissions control hardware and I appreciate the problems that we have with NOX and CO2 levels. However, it’s a great shame to see so much over reaction to what is essentially a media driven whitch hunt of epic proportions, especially when it has all sorts of consequences, like a shift towards extremely thirsty, CO2 belching, 5.0 supercharged V8’s; they may be glorious, but it’s an environmental own goal! ![]() |
