Does the AB remote heater heat up the engine?

I'm using my heater on these cold mornings to great effect but I've also noticed that the engine is perkier than I remember it to be normally when really cold.
Just wondered if the engine gets a pre heat like the occupants?

But this morning it didn't do anything. I guess that after not using the car for 3 days it decides that the battery voltage is/will be too low if it carries on the auto cycle so decides to stop working.
I guess I need to get out more

Its an Engine pre-heater the cabin heating is an added benefit in a fullfat.

(Full pre-heat cycle get the engine approx 1/3 operating temp.)

Being pedantic, it's the coolant that is being heated. not the "engine". The main mechanical parts of engine, and the oil won't get anywhere near their operating temperature.
