Once you've done the filter.....

if it is still a problem, what makes you suspect the low pressure pump? Surely if its not reving then the high pressure pump would be suspect number 1? I'm no expert mind, just an observation. Keep us posted with the result Thumbs Up 2010 Disco XS TDV6, 2009 Freelander 2 GS

Two thoughts on this, the TD6 is of course a Commone Rail engine and if it was the high presure pump it would not work at all and going back through treads on this and other sites over the past year or so a failing low presure pump is a much more Commone problem than I realised . 2008 MY Supercharged

I think low pressure pump is at fault, had a friend with the same symptoms and the replacement cured it...

regarding your mate with the code reader.

Was it showing live data, ie fuel pressure? if so rev it to 3k while connected, might give you some more data to work with. 2004 black Vogue TD6

I don't think it was one that could show live data... It was a snap on one and all we did was clear all faults, take it for a 20 minute drive of A roads and some motorway then re-scan for the codes. It was the same two that appeared...

I've ordered a new battery and an oil filter as a starter so will fit those this weekend, clear the codes again and see if that has made any changes.

I wonder if the battery going flat would have caused this "limp home" mode to activate or possibly played a small part..?

Almost certainly NOT this but my Range Rover was delivered in some sort of delivery mode where it wouldn't go over 30 mph. So much for the PDI. it just needed plugging in to the dealer's laptop to allow the car to be driven normally.

Ok so the battery was replaced along with the fuel filter. Car seemed to be running fine until the road back up Glasgow this past weekend and it started this 3k rpm limit again whilst trying to overtake.

I never had a chance to fit the diesel pump yet so going to try and get that fitted, fingers crosses this solves it.

Really frustrating!! Grr.

This sounds like the same problem I had. Turned out to be exactly what you suapect ie low pressure fuel pump!

Apparently it is a common fault on that age of vehicle as the electrical contacts on the pump corrode. Subsequently they changed supplier now a non issue.

Hope you get it fixed.

My TD6 had the same issue. Fuel starvation issue at high revs.
I changed the fuel pump located in front of the Near Side rear Wheel. After doing this all was back to normal.

If you turn the ignition to the 1st stage and listen near to the small access panel you should hear the pump running. With my pump if i tapped it with a small rubber mallet it would start pumping!! Probably best to put your car in off road height to help and remove the panel.

There is a small access panel which you can physically see the pump from but thats all you can do from there.
Bit of a pig to change as you have to remove the mud / crap guards from under the car to gain full access to the pump. The lines are crimped to the pump so if you are planning to change the pump yourself you will need new crimps and a crimp tool or alternatively adjustable pipe clips.

Help!! Had both the rear wheels off and don't see any pump.. Both arch liners are out also....

Got it! Finally.

Contrary to what I've read everywhere, the pump has nothing to do with the NSR wheel being off.

The fuel pump can be easily accessed by raising the car into offroad hight and climbing under the rear passenger seating area. The access panel is held on by two screws and the pump held on with brackets.

Off to see if changing the pump has solved the problem...
