Shall I bin the scissor jack?

Just picked up a Sprinter Bottle Jack. Thumbs Up

I've read all the posts on the scissor jack, shall I just bin it?

Maybe binning the scissor will offset some weight!
Those little bottle jacks weigh a fair bit huh?
. Cheers, Greg

Might be handy as a backup, second point of support etc. .
Experience is the only genuine knowledge, but as time passes, I have forgotten more than I can remember Wink

Can/would someone be able to measure the diameter and thickness of (what I assume is a large O-ring)the thing that holds the jack in place in the L322?

Mine rattles around.

It might be cheaper to buy a rubber ring than trying to get one from LR (if they even carry it as a spare in Oz). Ron B. VK2OTC

Use the scissor jack on level ground ensuring that base of jack is directly under jacking point. Do not solely rely on the jack if having to work under car (same goes for any jack really).
When at home make use of axle stands. If taking a wheel off to maintain brakes etc. shove wheel under car as added protection.
If the jack base and jacking point move out of line then scissor jack has a tendency to collapse. (chock wheels, still in contact with ground, to prevent fore/aft movement). Previous cars:
S-Max 2007-2013 (only diesel I've had, good car but expensive when diesely bits go wrong, so what's the point?)

My personal experience is that it is made of cheese and use only with great caution.
Mine collapsed/twisted and dropped the car while on the very flat and level surface of my garage. Shocked

I've got a sprinter bottle jack in my boot. The scissor jack had never been used so I've just put it in the garage so I can stick it back in the Westie when I eventually sell it on. 2017 4.4 SDV8 Autobiography

P38 do you mean the strap ting that holds the scissor jack in place normally?

The threads on my Land Rover scissor jack stripped the first time I used it. Chuck in the skip.

I gave my to the neighbor who has golf. he likes it for the extra lift it gives. that jack was not properly designed for the 3t car it is intended for but it works OK on a 1.2t. this is what I use empty space for.
