Spare wheel lifters

Help,

On t'internet, the following both come up as suitable for the L405:

LR085460 and LR057367 - does one supersede the other? It doesn't help that some adverts say "Range Rover L322 2013 onwards" which isn't right. Photos show essentially the same kit...... 17 MY Corris Grey 4.4 VAB

After much ping-ponging the seller agreed that post 2012 meant L405 RR despite what they kept saying so now have a LR057367. 17 MY Corris Grey 4.4 VAB

Is this suited for a tyre saving spare or a full size spare?

Both I guess. I'm getting a full size which will be a pig to lift out. 17 MY Corris Grey 4.4 VAB

I think they come as standard witth a full size spare, so I guess that LR deem the space saver light enough to man handle, but the bigger wheels need a lift......

Had to lift a 22" tyre into L405 boot this evening... Je*u*... and that's without a wheel attached!

Wanted a full size spare when I ordered my vehicle, my17 4.4ab Lwb, but they said not an option (but the same vehicle I think in SV version was full size spare as standard!!), so have purchased one separately at significantly more than the factory order cost of approx £200!, hence needing to know, but will need to check if there is a lift system in, I had ordered 22" turbines, so presumably the space saver spare will be a 22". Wait for the sunlight in the morning for the search to begin!

It won't be a 22 - but it will be the same overall diameter with the tyre on

No lift system (straps) for a space saver, just looks like the jack at the back and the wheel nut wrench.

There is a big piece of polystyrene that the space saver sits on, it makes up the width difference I think between the space saver and the full size spare, anyone who had the full size spare from new have any polystyrene ?

I NEED a lift, took two of us to put in the spare full size wheel in the back, under the board - I now understand why the Range Rover weighs so much with 4 of these on every vehicle Exclamation

Hi Alaister,

Thank you, do you have something under the alloy to reduce chance of shorting any cables, Also does your board sit flat with the full size alloy?, mine seem to be slightly raised about half a centremeter or have I done something wrong?

Tyre is against the metal floor, but as the whole thing is clamped in place and doesn't move, I don't really see why any cables are at risk.

The tyre is about level with the plastic blocks either side.

The highest point is the circular screw adjustable clamp thingy in the middle.

The boot floor should be flat - it's designed for a full size spare, they just put some polystyrene in there to pad out for the narrower space saver, so once that's removed, it should fit.

Is your centre clamp thing adjusted properly ? Is the floor flat if you remove that ?

Thank you Alistair Bow down Bow down Bow down

I took out the centre clamp and the rear board went flat even with the full size wheel in, so then checked everything again and realised the wheel was slightly off centre, realigned and checked the board still went flat, then replaced centre clamp and hey presto all systems go!!! Very Happy Very Happy

I have put a cloth beneath the wheel and the base as there are a few cables, think it looks like the battery located under the wheel, just to reduce any risk of shorting with the alloy wheel.

I have measured the space saver and the full size they are both 30" in diameter (alloy and tyre), BUT my full size alloy wheels are 23" in diameter (turbines) , they are meant to be 22" ........ the tyres are 22" .... what is going on ?!?!?, I have checked all the wheels on the car and they are all 23" everyone else must be the same?

Great weather and another challenged resolved Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

Wheel diameters are measured on the part that the tyre bead sits on, not the outer lip, so they will appear too big if you measure the actual alloy. 2021 D350 Fifty Edition - Carpathian Grey
