Consider which of the 2 types of machine you are going to use, I.e. Rotary or dual action. I know little about DA machines but if a rotary is your thing a Makita 9237 is a well made bit of kit. I have 2 of them and they make progress quite rapid. |

If your looking to get into detailing,to start with I'd recommend getting a dual action, less likely to knacker the paint up which can easily be done with a rotary which requires more concentration and technic.

I purchased a Dodo Juice DA kit and have had really good results with it, plenty of info on YouTube to steer you in right direction, was a little nervou at first but seems you can't do much wrong with a DA polisher as compared with the old rotary ones, certainly gets rid of swirls on my Black RR paint, used Meguires Ultimate compound and a water spray from a trigger bottle stop it drying out as polishing, do part panel at a time, wiping off with microfibres cloth. 👍 |

Those would be the mini 12 volt things as sold in Halfords, car boot sales etc. Being only 12v and also direct drive from the motor to the head they have very little torque. This is important to maintain a steady head speed with different pressures so as not to bog down and mar the paint.

I have one of those, they're mains powered and quite powerful for a cheap polisher. However, there's only one mop as such and two slip on covers to fit over it. They're orbital but not got much throw, so the pile on the head seems to take up the orbital throw to a certain extent. For just general polishing they're ok, easier than hand polishing. On flat bits like roof and bonnet I dropped the polisher on a micro fibre cloth, so the polisher does the work. That brings up a real good shine Personally I'm thinking of knocking up some new mop covers oput of micro fibre cloths as I think they'll be better, be a decent tool then |

IIRC Meguiars do a microfibre kit to go with their DA polisher. |
