Warm or cold, it doesn't make any difference. Problem isn't continuous though. It's intermittent at the moment. |

I had intermittent starting problems before Christmas. It got worse over a week and ended with my FFRR not starting at all one morning. Got it fixed under warranty as only just bought the thing. Initially they thought fuel pump but in the end it was the fuel pump relay. FFRR TD6 HSE

Well I can comment on the injector, no it doesn't throw a fault code. At least mine didn't which failed to open when told to. It was injector number 4 (counting front of block to back). It started playing up in Calais, got me to Lake Como , ran it in to be checked up at back village garage who couldn't get the parts before we moved on... Got as far back as Strasbourg and then stopped for fuel. Came to start again and nowt... diddly squat.

elpeede, you have more experience with a faulty injector on a range rover than me then, i had one go on a ford tdi engine and it started but ran like a dog.

Having had the other 5 reconditioned when we got back I still can't claim to be an expert on them. It didn't really stack up for me either, I'd have expected a lumpy start, but can only sumise that it failed electronically rather than the mechanical side. All I know is one injector later it was running fine!

Thanks for all the input. When it's sorted I'll post again. I think I'll have to wait until it fails completely, otherwise I could spend £££ trying to diagnose an intermittent fault.

Ive had this with my rr. it was a faulty injector. as mentioned earlier connect six pipes (fish tank air pipe is pefect) to the top of each injector (to the leak off pipes) a simple push fit. you will need to block one side of the leak off connection as 5 of them have a two way connector. put the six pipes into tubs or bottles. start the engine and idle. the six containers should fill very very slowly. one of my injectors half filled a milk bottle in 30 seconds which showed it was faulty(the other 5 bottles were still empty). if your lucky its number1 which is easier to remove. 2-6 need the inlet manifold pulling back and are harder to reach.
