United Kingdom 2012 Range Rover Westminster TDV8 Orkney Grey

I have only just picked it up this week, so have a full 2 yr AUC warranty Very Happy

Local dealer was confident that he could get it sorted with LR Very Happy Very Happy

One thing I have in my back pocket is that I asked selling dealer if it had been done before agreeing to purchase and the sales person indicated it had been done. So I'll be going back to them if I get nowhere with my local dealer.

Regarding to get it to smoke on test drive; the MD is only about 4 miles away from me, so I drove through town like I was 90yrs old and it was a sunday morning Rolling with laughter pulling away from lights was like it was stuck in 8th gear Rolling with laughter Regards
Mark

well seems like mines needs this mod.

no smoke out back but mod not done to drain and using engine oil.

in at diagnostics now, issue is the vehicle has had two turbos done it (37k miles total!) and it would appear they didnt reset the DPF properly at that time so although it thinks its only partially full its nearly always full so may need DPF too!

seller is getting a call about it! Cheers

James

just had the mod done, £200 parts, £450 labour plus the initial diagnostic! local dealer wanted £1500 for same work.

just hoping the DPF will regen now, time will tell! Cheers

James

Is there any way of visibly telling whether this mod has been done to a vehicle or is it completely internal? 2012 Vogue 4.4 TDV8 automatic (LHD), Santorini Black

It's all external to the engine.
The 1st picture shows the original drain and the 2nd the lower section of the twin drain. Compare the new fitting attached to the side of the block with the vacant flat area in the 1st picture.

Update:
The drain pipe(s) at the bottom of the turbo can be seen when lying on the ground in front of the left wheel and looking over the top of the driveshaft towards about mid-way along the engine. The forward pipe of the twin drain is attached to a vertical fitting rather than just a pipe. but it is obviously a double drain rather than a single pipe.

since this mod, it has resolved my oil usage problems and restricted performance issues,

DPF, to date seems to be coping and has cleared itself out, we went steadily upwards (even on long drives) to around 21g soot as sensors recalibrated how much was in it, despite regenning as it was doing it, (also had mis correlation issue between two DPF sensors, so it had more in it than it thought)

now DPF soot levels have stabilised and it seems to working as it should..... Cheers

James

All sounds good news James,

I have not seen a single puff of smoke out of mine since it was done despite me doing a fair amount of stop start town driving recently and all my local motorway driving has been restricted to 50mph due to road works on both M62 & M6.

Do you have to have the box in sport mode to reproduce the problem? 2012 Vogue 4.4 TDV8 automatic (LHD), Santorini Black

no you dont, just get the revs up over 2500 rpm so the second turbo kicks in and if you have a problem then you'll see smoke from the back... ... - .- -.
