Stripped fill plug( gearbox)

After doing mine an good friend has asked me to do the oil/ filter change on his m62 engines fatty. Huge issue being someone's been at it before and managed to completely round the inside of the fill plug. Tried an 8mm Alan head and it's simply turning.. can't fit an Irwin bolt extractor due to the lip of the sump getting in the way..any ideas guys?

Can't tell from the photo but does it stand proud enough to be able to cut a slot across it? John

I reckon it would maybe be viable. I've tried using a small chisel and it's simply chipping and crumbling.. what would you use to do the cut?

Already tried lol.. no room in the slightest. Wondering if there's a dremmel that can cut a groove in it?

Can you just go at it with a cold chisel on the edge to get it turning? .

That's worth a bash. It's taken longer to try and get this off the car than the actuall oil change/ filter change is going to take Laughing

You can get a miniature cutting disc for Dremmel, discs don't last long though so get a few. How about an air saw, got one here but where are you?

Edit to say just noticed you're in Scotland, bit of a drive to borrow a saw Laughing

Before starting with the chisel I would be inclined to file a groove in it (if there is room) to lessen the chance of the crumbling you mentioned earlier. John

I don’t know if it helps at all but this is a view of the plug from above. You can see that there is a fair amount of the head depth that sticks out (although it may be slightly exaggerated in the photo because this plug may not be fully tightened). The piece of the casting that juts out below the plug is there just to provide a ledge or spout for the fluid to pour/drip off when setting the level.
