CEC = derogatory term for a face lifted car, one made to look newer than it is. Whilst most were done very professionally, there were some dodgy attempts. The full term is council estate conversion Whistle

Sure - and there are more details I've left off for this reason.

CEC! Love that. With a supercharged badge. On a 3.0 ! Priceless.

Sorry, meant to reply about the CEC, but alistair got there first.....

Agreed some facelifts are done very well, some aren't. The 22" OF copies kind of gave it away. You don't see very many actual gen 3 L322's with those on, most folks seem to be going with L405 wheels for bigger rims! There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Some face lifts would be hard to tell the difference between the real thing from outside, and they look good to be fair.

Glad you got the Censored that did it, although he should have leave note in the first place. 2003 Range Rover 4.4 Litre V8 - Adriatic blue

can I just point out if you decide to let the insurance company deal with this I would guess the csar will be a write off, as much as it's worth the repair bill for a rear 1/4 will out weight the cost's (don't forget all the "office" fee's and loan car ect whilst yours is in for repairs

if he insists to use the insurance company DON'T let them take it you will probably never get it back, you can discuss with them a write off price and a buy back price prior to them collecting the car

you do not have to use the repair center they tell you, if you can get 3 quotes they will pay the middle amount of the 3 for the repairs but again you would have to sign a full and final declaration saying the work is carried out on your head

From experience insurance companies don't like dealing with members of the public it would be easier to let your insurance company deal with the matter, tell them clearly what you want to happen

I wouldn't think so.

A 2011 VSE must be valued around the £25k mark minimum and insurers wouldn't write it off unless costs exceed around 60% and I can't see it costing £15k+ even at an LR dealers Shocked Shocked 2021 D350 Fifty Edition - Carpathian Grey

A couple of years ago my defender was stolen. It was found but had the drivers door stolen. That ended up costing £2.5k just to replace one door and paint it.
