I was getting annoyed with my cigar lighter socket not giving my phone enough juice on navigation so I decide to upgrade the lighter socket with one of these.

On my 2002 it was quiet simple. Take a look at powerfuluk.com to see if they have any videos on how to do it. That's where I learnt how to do mine. |

Thanks that site is certainly worth a look, but they haven't done a fitting video yet.

A bit more frreting on that site, and there is a video (featuring cam tech Craig) which shows how to remove the trim.

But having removed the central console to gain access the the cigar lighter in the ashtray, I found the new one wouldn't fit. It has a wider diameter than the original, which would mean somehow widening the aperture, and that is something I wasn't prepared to do. 2011 Vogue TDV8 4.4

Understandable with an 11 plate. my 02 I was less concerned and used this http://www.toolstation.com/shop/Power+Tool...ill/p61469 with a little opening up after and it fitted. |

I had several of those but they are usually lower rating and my phone was losing charge when used as sat nav. With my 4.2A I am a happy man. phone actually charges now when being satnav. |

I've found the same thing - the ones that fit flush all seem to be 1A per output.
