Paul,

I think you have a different pump to me -It been some time and i've been to bed since I did mine but I'm sure that I first connected the output of the pump to the intake side (think there are some silencers on mine that I got mixed up with) and had the static issue.

I know you will have checked many times but just to be sure Smile Just check that the output of the pump is connected to the correct 'out' pipe. If the pump is producing pressure/air and there are no leaks in the system it should not be static pressure.

PS the reason my pump needed a new seal was that I had a small hole in the blue pipe from the pump to the reservoir - The pump was running all the time and became worn out. I was getting a slow lift warning on the dash. Perhaps if you have a bigger hole the system might not hold pressure....

Good luck,

Simon

Just a thought but what diagnostic are you using? Can you read the air resovoir pressure? If you can post it up as that should give us a better idea of what's going on..if it's really low or non existent then it's a good chance it's pump related, there's also a pressure sensor in the tank which can go as well.. Thumbs Up

Simon,

If the pipe had been put in the wrong way would i still get air coming out of the pipe that connects to the car??

Sorry if i am being a bit thick.

Alistarh,

Thankyou for your reply,

I checked the chamber and there was no scoring / damage.

My first thoughts were the same as you (New Pump) but the pump was fine before i serviced it so other than what Simon has suggested ,i cannot see why anything wrong with the pump.

The reason for the service was due to when it was cold /Freezing the EAS would come on, I would reset it and all was good until the next frost.

Whistle As I have stated many times, once the compressor stops pumping it inevitably ends up in a new compressor.... if your going to fit new piston rings the time to do it is before the compressor plays up..... normally once the compressor gets weak the cylinder is scored, and as it's a chemical liner, there is nothing that can be done other than replacement Sad Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Whistle EAS inactive message can often be caused by low battery voltage....

"The reason for the service was due to when it was cold /Freezing the EAS would come on, I would reset it and all was good until the next frost."

I'd possibly check the battery voltage.... if it's below 12 volts then I would suspect that... towards the end of my battery I regularly got EAS inactive on the screen of Doom Thumbs Up Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

An ffrr (L322) is like a baby... it will often spit out its' dummy for no reason, and when there is something wrong, it doesn't always have the correct vocabulary to convey the problem.....

There is no screen of Doom message for flat battery... so it usually comes up with HDC inactive or in extreme cases of low voltage EAS inactive, when all the time the battery is sitting below 11.4 volts.

Why 11.4? my well used battery functioned happily at 11.5 for a year Shocked Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

Paul,

Sorry if I confused you ( I confuse myself often) - You have a different set up to mine - so if the out is going out to the resevoir your ok.
On mine there are two holes / pipes in the end plate of the dryer, i'd got these mixed up.... Embarassed

When you clear the codes do they come back again before you try the pump again or is it after the pump had run?

I would have thought it would take 30 secs or more befor the system thought it wasn't being filled.

You could also try a battery disconect - but I think it's a hard fault you are trying to clear -What i'm trying to say is - is your reader/ clearing the hard fault? if not you may just need it to be reset...

Simon

Buddy if your EAS is working when you've reset the system, with out fault, then it's not the EAS system that's causing the message in the first place... plugging in your box of tricks doesn't magically repair worn out components.. Your obviously new to Range Rovers, and haven't gotten used to their quirks... the biggest problem is the all singing and dancing computer is actually stupid, and lacks the messages to convey the real problem, so it has a panic throws up no end of faults, the new owner spends thousands of pounds on new parts only to discover that there is still a problem.. eventually you will get to the route cause..

I owned a ffr for 2.5 years and spent thousands keeping it running, in fact probably more than I paid for the car, and in all that time if it was left for a few weeks between uses it would throw up all manner of faults EAS inactive was one of its favourites..

FYI to clear EAS inactive fault message you don't always have to plug in diagnostics, turn the steering full left to full right and back again, this resets the system and in most cases will return your beastie to normal Thumbs Up Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

Thank you all for your guidance and wisdom.

I have ordered a new compressor this morning, it should be with me by Wednesday this week.

There is one thing I am curious about is that I have read numerous threads with the same issue's and it has been stated that I should change the relay too.

Does any one know the Part No for this relay or should I leave it?.

If you are lucky the relay will come with it!

When I bought my new compressor from Germany (no turtle shell) it did... .
