I was having a little look around my engine yesterday and decided while the covers were off I'd blank the EGR.

I made up a disc plate and placed it where the exhaust pas pipe goes into the EGR and is held on with the jubilee type clip.

I'm just wondering if I should also remove and blank the vacuum hose going to the EGR or is it alright just to leave it connected to the valve?

I don't have any errors at the moment and obviously don't want any so didn't want to blank it if there's no need, or no advantage and run the risk of an error popping up.

I'm not sure if it's just the placebo effect but I think it's pulling a little better since fitting, have covered a bit of distance and according to the computer the MPG seem to have also improved also but I'll reserve judgement on this aspect till I've cover more ground.

Yes you need to blank the vacuum pipe, that is whst operates the egr.
you will notice a difference in power and mpg.
get the proper delete conversation valve if you can, don't know how much they are, but really worth it.

Thanks for that Greg, I just didn't want to throw up any errors since it's actually physically blanked already I though the operation of the valve wouldn't matter but if the consensus is to blank the vacuum then that's certainly not difficult to do.

You can just screw a brass woodscrew into the end of the vacuum pipe and cable tie it out of the way.
The egr isn't monitored by any ecu, so won't show any fault codes it's a simple mechanical device.

I would check to see if the vacuum hose is properly blocked or has a leak somewhere. It should not cause any issues if the EGR is removed and the hose capped. 2007 TDV8 VSE

Does yours come up since your blanked the egr? When you say that code always comes up.

Did you just blank the exhaust side of the egr or fit a EGR delete unit. That code has something to do with airflow and linked with Maf settings according to the BMW forums 2007 TDV8 VSE

The egr was already blanked when I bought the car.
When I had g/box problem, chappy who sorted it read all the codes off his diag tool, I think was a solus.
he picked that fault up as well as others, but cleared thdm all. When I got my bt iid tool, the same fault showed up, so I cleared it again.
now since then I can't remember seeing it, but I have no running issues, maybe I ought to check my vacuum pipes.
Too b y cold at the moment. Brrrrr.
if you haven't any running issues, I wouldn't worry too much.

Yes, I read that and no it is not the cause as I replaced those hoses and it did not fix the problem.

Sorry to jump in but just been out to my car for a look to see if mine had been done prior to me purchasing the car....

I'm guessing mine has been deleted ????




The kits I saw on ebay looked a little different to what is on my car. Is my one ok or should I change it and delete the exhaust part too ??

Also, the two bolts at the top were missing for some reason, can imagine it would of been leaking air. I found a couple of bolts in my garage and fitted them.
