Hard over bumps

Hi all,
I've always wanted one and I just bought one!!!
Jan 14 sdv8 autobiography and it's beautiful

However i have a question, after coming from a 2010 7 series I was certain the L405 would have been even more comfortable but driving it home tonight i was quite shocked how hard the front felt over bumps and potholes also I can hear a knocking from the front.

What would be the problem here. I can't believe they all ride crashy like this.
I'm a little worried as it's warranty has run out.
Any thoughts would be much appreciated.

Which wheel size do you have? and have you checked the tyre pressures?

Appreciate the replies .
Just checked the search section and the Arc valve blocks eels to be mentioned alot.
Is this an expensive item or can this be done under a recall.
She's on 22" turbines I'm yet to check the pressures.

Mine is a reasonably hard ride on the same wheels. I would change them to either 21" or 20" you will find it a much softer ride. I think you will get the knocking sorted out under warranty.

Post some pics of the car so we can have a look. I hope you enjoy your new car Thumbs Up 2020 Porsche Panamera Turbo Hybrid (V FAST)

I'm afraid I haven't got warranty but was wondering if it can be done under a recall issue.

22's are less forgiving than the 20's and 21's. My personal preference is the 21's which give a great compromise. Not quite as smooth as 20's but look better IMHO. I'd definitely check the pressures as these can be set for a heavy load and then not set back for normal and it really does make a difference.

As for the knocking, that doesn't sound normal so I'd get it into the dealers. I'd be very surprised if they didn't go a long way to sorting the problem providing your car hasn't been to the moon and back and has been serviced appropriately. Thumbs Up

Thanks again for your prompt replies.
If anyone can chime in about that recall then great.
I will get pics up weather permitting tomorrow she is just beautiful.
BTW been on many forums for various cars I've owned and the community here is second to none so thanks chaps.

United Kingdom 2014 Range Rover Autobiography SDV8 Indus Silver

Hi All, I have just joined after a few days lurking. Just bought a FF Autobiography from Harwood Pulborough. I mentioned the knocking on front suspension on test drive but was told it was just 22 inch alloys which I planned to change but they wouldn't swap for 20's or 21s off another forecourt car.

I took the car back after a week saying I just didn't believe the knock would have been signed off by LR, I then found this forum and hopefully the dealer will accept that they need to update the ARC valve block as per the bulletin and info of these threads I sent them but I think I am up for a fight...I have made it clear that if they want to start changing bushes it is on the understanding that I think it is the ARC and I know I can reject the car (don't want to as I love everything about it). So now I am razzing around in my 4x4 205 pug Cosworth until car come back.

I've done 40k + miles on 22" wheels, no significant knocking whatsoever and if they try telling you otherwise dig your heels in. Sounds like salesman talk to me and a car of this quality and price should not have any unusual sounds.
Good luck and keep us posted with events.

It is good to hear about the 22's being ok as I like the look but hated the ride. Although I thing a Rangie needs a bit more rubber to handle bumps and kerbs.

I have a l405 on 22" and the ride is firm but totally acceptable with no knocking whatsoever. the only time this changed was after its first service when it came out of the workshop with 2 psi extra in the tyres and that made the ride appreciably harder.
Dig your heels ion regards the knocking it is NOT normal and the arc fault is well documented. Agueroooooooooo. 93-20
I swear you will never see anything like this ever again....watch it..drink it in.
