Well, not sure if its the same problem but when I had this identical scenario it turned out that the fitting behind the mirror that contains the light and rain sensors had not been clipped properly to the screen, so it was slightly proud of the glass and didn't work. Fitter returned, removed and refitted the sensor and clamp, and was fixed. Graham

Presumably you didn't fit the screen yourself so call the fitter and ask them to come and sort it.

If done via insurance I would complain to them so they can log the complaint with the fitters.

Fitter is a friend and no wiser than me, googled and other people have had same issue when non Pilkington screen fitted, one guy replaced sensor pad as had bubbles in it but this has not worked for me, only a little niggle but it annoys the hell out of me, at night turn engine on and lights come on for about 20 seconds they then go off for about 30 sec then come back on again, in daylight lights are on all the time, this has only happened since screen was replaced, if I just hold sensor on screen during day lights go off fine, thinking of just removing purple part that is attached to screen and drilling a hole in it 🤔

Isn't a windscreen covered on your insurance ?

I had a new Pilkington one fitted and it cost me something like £80 for the windscreen excess - and doesn't count as a claim....

Hi Alistair, not an insurance job, have a trader policy so don't want to be claiming on that, just needing a fix for the problem, some one must have a clue Thumbs Up

Ian it aligned properly with the little window in the top hatching area? If the glass is fitted slightly off then it might be out of line. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Bit the bullet and bought new sensor and pad from e-bay, bastards still the same, removed pad and lens and just fixed sensor to glass with double sided tape, lo & behold auto lights working fine, run a bead of silicon round edge, all good, can only presume purple lens is to do with auto wipers (turned mine off with IOD tool as crap) just happy auto lights is back to normal

Mine are excellent, barely have to interfere at all, maybe your auto wiper sensor is faulty as well...!!!

Glad the lights are fixed Thumbs Up Pete

So was it more or less what I suggested ^^^ ... not fitted to the screen properly...? Graham

Not really as auto lights were on all the time with lens in place, now it's removed and sensor fitted direct to screen lights work fine, as I said can presume the purple lens is just to do with autowipers which I have turned off

I posted some pics in a couple of other threads but I can't link the post as I can't quote it. See http://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/topic36415-60.html

Note how the hole in the screen mask doesn't line up with the red circular window in the sensor. Ron B. VK2OTC
