That's what I originally tried doing, getting the arm off the ball joint, but it just wasn't happening!

Even if you get the bolt out I bet you can't get the balljoint out the hub, needs some serious abuse to remove it, stick the nut back on and put the bolt and nut back in the other end and take it to the garage.... |

Not done this one but if it is a real c^£t give it a good spray up.start again tomorrow,get a big bar and a blowlamp,try and get the weight off it or even better to help you ,get it hot if it is possible and whilst giving it a bloody good bar hit it very hard with a good long handled hammer,helps if you have a mate to help,two hammere work even better together but take care that you don't get carried away and cause any damage elsewhere .Good luck . |

DO NOT use any heat on it you will boil all the grease out the wheel bearing, a club hammer usually works but difficult to get a good swing when the car is on a jack, helps if it's on a ramp, it's so much easier....

I had a similar problem with the ball joints a couple of years ago. I ended up using a long arm fork ball joint remover and a sledge hammer. Still to about 15 minutes of beating before joint split 56 TDV8 Vogue SE

I have done that job and found it a pain. I bought a 3 piece fork type splitter off eBay cheap and used the largest from memory and it has a long screw in handle. You could try a pry bar with an assistant to try and lever the joint while you hit it with the splitter.
