Handsfree microphone

Not sure if right section or if its been covered. I have updated my RR from a MY57 to MY11. The handsfree microphone in the old car was horrible, no one could hear me, although the incoming was fine over the speakers, so not a signal proble. Now having updated by 4 years or so, the situation is the same, sounds great listening to the call coming in, but no one can hear me very well at the other end, claims of sounding like I am in a wind tunnel, or stood next to a train, have you got your windows open etc. I have tried turning all the blowers off, but no improvement. Is this a well known issue and is there a fix? No body told me there would be days like these

Replace the microphone with either a Nokia one or a Bury one. Much better quality. I did this in the L322 and SWMBO's DB9 and it made a huge difference.

Thanks for the advice, any help on best place to buy, and any model numbers to ensure I source correct one? I have a long history and a full drawer of badly procured spares. No body told me there would be days like these

Well, any decent microphone will do if you do it the way I did. I cut the wire and soldered the new part on but if you're not handy with a soldering iron you would need to source one with the same plug. Most are a 2.5mm mono jack but I couldn't face running the wire from the roof down to the back of the screen so I don't actually know what the FFRR uses. Knowing Land Rover it will be an obscure plug which nobody else uses. I just cut the plug off in the roof area and soldered the wires together.

If you want to replace the thing without soldering I would suggest buying genuine from Dan @ Duckworth Parts. It just plugs into the back of the microphone unit Thumbs Up
