rear towing eyes

i have just bought some dummy tail pipes for my vogue, from powerful.co.uk; and very smart they are too;

they bolt to the towing eyes on the rear, however to my dismay i climbed under to fit them only to find i dont have the eyes fitted ????

the car is a vogue on a nov 2004 plate, and wonder if this is normal and if so if they are a option that an be added???

How is your exhaust suspended at the rear? Do you have a tow bar fitted? John

I suspect that a previous owner has removed a tow bar and, not still having the original parts, has had those brackets made up.

To replace the originals means removing the rear bumper.

Where in the Dordogne are you? John

HI Weegie

ok i see, i am in sarazzac which is just outside Thiviers dept 24800

I guess as these two chassis members i have are pre drilled i could probably last make up a L bracket of some sort to fix to the sides of the existing, then bold the dummies up onto them, as they would still be in a similar place if i had the original towing eyes;

im not too concerned have the eyes for any other reason than to mount the dummies;

I am just north of you in Mialet. It would probably be easier to do what you suggest rather than replacing with originals. I do have a set which came off when I fitted a towbar. John

well its ok if things go back the way they came off, but i generally find it not the case, !! but i will have a look and see if it would be easy enough to make up aa bracket od some sort

if that doesen't work, perhaps i can get back in touch regarding your set of original's Thumbs Up

No problem. BTW, if I may, if you get an aerosol of black stove paint from your local quincaillerie it works very well on the silencer box being heat resistant and is cheap. Can't have shiney new exhaust tips without doing the exhaust box.

yes it does not look good does it and was my intention as you suggested; jus wondering about the originals, looking at the setup i have under the back, are your original eyes two individual pieces, and if so do you think it may be possible to mount them somehow to what i already have so they sit as they would have been, if not originally removed ? Question

just a thought

They are two separate pieces. They are part of the ex-factory fitting. You couldn't mount them to what you have existing. They have a plate which goes up behind the bumper and gives the strength if used to pull something.

The powerful video for fitting the dummy exhaust tips gives an idea. John
