United Kingdom 2009 Range Rover Westminster TDV8 Mariana Black

Hi Guys

Still stuck on this, compressor runs but the pressure reading is 9.5 bar which is too low I understand. If you clear the suspension inactive fault with the i930 as soon as you clear it the compressor kicks in and runs for say 30-45 seconds then stops then the suspension inactive message re-appears. I have put the new piston ring in the compressor so would that not make it give enough output ? Not sure which bit to start changing first ? Compressor, pressure sensor ? Anybody got any ideas of what to start with ? Cheers Chris 2006 3.0 TD6 Vogue Black - sold

The fault says, reservoir pressure static when filling . So what does that mean exactly ? 2006 3.0 TD6 Vogue Black - sold

It means exactly what it says, the pressure sensor in the tank is not registering an increase in pressure when the pump is running..

Can you monitor the pressure when the pump is running, does the pressure start low and go up or is it just stuck at 9.5...

It's going to be the compressor or the sensor in the tank, just need to find out which.... Pete

Hi Pete

Have just been for 15min drive with the diagnostic on pressure data stream and it was varying between 8.19 -8.33

8.33
8.19
8.24
8.28
8.33
8.38

With compressor only cutting in 2-3 times for 20-30 seconds a time.

What does that sound like to you ?

It sounds like either the compressor is worn out and can't get to pressure or the pressure sensor is worn out and can't read the pressure......

Both items are known to fail... the sensor is the cheaper one

This is when you need more diagnostics, I have a schrader valve to 6mm push fit to pump additional air into the system to diagnose things like this...

If you don't want to explore any more change the valve first, which will invoke "sod's law" and it will be the compressor....!!! Big Cry Pete

Ok Pete thanks, will change the sensor first. Is that an easy job, I tried to look for it and there looked liked there is plastic cover in the way. Do I just remove that cover then the sensor is in the end of the reservoir ? any tips greatly appreciated. Very Happy

Best to start your own thread rather than hijacking someone else's... but seeing as you ask, there isn't any you can download for free, you will have to buy a Range Rover specific diagnostic tool. Gap IIDtool is the best... Link in my signature below... Pete

Steering angle sensor has nothing to do with the suspension.... Thumbs Up

Have you just tried turning the steering wheel from lock to lock...?? Pete

Steering angle sensor does interact with suspension, had it on a 04 model (the red car in the pic's in my gallery) one of the 4 leaf contactors on the track inside the sensor had snapped off, couldn't set steering angle so suspension wouldn't work, BMW X5 use the same senor and are cheaper than buying from LR.

Yes I tried the steering reset, my mechanic said that he plugged a scanner in and came up with communication error so I bought one and he replaced but he doesn't have the software to reprogram it
The suspension was becoming inactive every other day and the leveling was getting stuck at one level and not able to be adjusted, that messes up all kind of things like abs brakes and driving conditions

If your mechanic doesn't have the tools to do the job then look for an independent LR mechanic that does. Then hopefully all of your problems will go away.
