Thanks for the heads up - just bought one. I presume they are not genuine. Do you have to cut the old one out?

no there not genuine, when you get the key in bits just gently pick the old buttons out.theere only stuck on round the edge off the buttons, easy job really. the new ones just poke through the holes left in the plastic and sit exactly how the old ones did, nice tidy key again and cheap too.

Dave, he had some in his "other items" He obviously sells loads of em so may be worth a message to him.

Failing that, I dont actually need mine as both my keys are nearly new so you can have mine. I just bought it to assess the quality!

Nearly impossible to renew that ...the oval silicone protection of my key is cut and I got an old broken key for testing from my dealer. Here is the result of opening and trying to peel out the silicon skin ...no chance ... of getting that perfect repaired by hand...

It's bad enough that everything screams BMW on the car without having a BMW badge on the key!

Hi del,
just met heppsen on rr.net the other day...

It looks like this piece is slightly modified over the original rubber piece. I assume all the little rubber 'prongs' in the slots around the holes are just left out. smearing a bit of silcone sealant around the inside of the housing and around the holes and letting it cure before trying the key should give a fairly good seal, though.

I'll wait and see when it gets here. Curious to see how long this lasts. Can't go wrong for the price, tho.

Funky design on the hatch release button... Laughing
