Yes and No Shocked

Yes it's locked to one vin number, BUT you can buy extra licences and add other cars to it, I think that 4 is the max before you have to get the pro, which is open to all Bow down

But lets face it they'll have locked you up and thrown the key away before owing 4 ffrr's Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

^^^ Which code reader?

Needs the spec of an IIDTool, Solus, Hawkeye, Testbook to clear hard faults on the suspension .

Firstly check battery voltage, needs to be 12 volt + no to cause silly messages on the screen of doom

Then I'd be unplugging the sat nav, and amps, radio, TV in the boot to see if that clears the message.. either one at a time or all, and then reconnect 1 at a time Thumbs Up Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

Hi another forum says it could be an ABS sensor that triggers these messages

The canbus fault is a standard fault that most early BMW FF's have, when Ford bought RR they wouldn't pay BMW to remove some faults that were standard to the systems, hence a fare few faults appear on all FF's

If it is an ABS sensor then it is the rear N/S one which does the speed sensor, you know if it has failed as the speedo won't work...

You need a better code reader to get to the bottom of yours if the one you have isn't showing any other faults... Thumbs Up Pete

Personally I wouldn't have anything other than an IID tool but at over £400 they are not cheap....

Thumbs Up Pete

Is it a blue tooth one? and they are type specific, ie 2002-2005 etc they can read and do more than the system the dealers use...

Just make sure it's the correct one, if that's a new one it's probably not blue tooth which means it won't do as much and uses the dash to tell you faults etc so if your pixels are going you will have trouble... Thumbs Up

Best to read the IID tool site

Update.

Ok got the diagnostic tool. I'm afraid I wimped out and got the icarsoft i930. Plugged it in and read faults and cleared them and seems to be all working fine. I not so cleverly didn't take a note of the codes so now don't know what the problem was unless it stores them in the tool. Anyway no doubt they will be back if it is more than just a blip in computers.

Thanks for everybody's help on this

Glad your sorted... Thumbs Up I do that as routine... clear the faults and see if they return, otherwise you just waste money on bit's you don't need.... Pete
