Range Rover 2003 Petrol Air Suspension Inactive

Hi Forum

I need some help please. My current RR 2003 has a warning on the dash " air susp inactive " I can here the compressor cutting in and out, the ride height is normal and car does not sink to stops when left for a long time. The button that you normally turn near the gear lever to go up or down does not do anything. I have tried turning from full lock to full lock but that does not clear it and also tried disconnecting the battery. Don't really want to go to the dealers as always leave feeling ripped off, can anybody suggest a fault finding sequence ?

If there is no light in the center of the knob that raises and lowers the suspension then you have a hard fault and it needs a diagnostic tool to reset it... even if you find and fix the problem...

You can take it to a garage or buy yourself a diagnostic tool which will tell you want part has failed and reset the suspension...

The most comprehensive tool and the one to get if you intend to keep the FF is the IID tool available from Gap Diagnostics...

Search on here for air suspension inactive, hard fault, IID tool for more info.... Pete

Thanks Pete

I will buy a diagnostics tool and go from there. There is a light in the middle of the button. Also had just had tyres changed on rear so jacked up, could that make anything change ?

Press the middle of the height control button to extinguish the light and give it a go...... when the light is on the EAS is locked in the current height and can not be adjusted.......

Whistle well that's not strictly true, can always make it go down with the aid of a big pin Wink Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

As Miggit says, if the light goes out, great, it should work, if it doesn't go out you have a soft fault, fixing the fault will extinguish the light without using diagnostics, but you will still need one to read the faults to establish the fault... Thumbs Up Pete

Just looking at the cost of the scanners will an icarscanner i930 do the trick as the IID tool very pricey ? 2006 3.0 TD6 Vogue Black - sold

Well sort of... it will reset the EAS, and get you out of a jamb, but it will also leave you wishing that you'd put the £100 towards an IID tool Whistle Not that I'd know it's a vicious rumour that I've got both and one is gathering dust Whistle Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... It is a bit of an expense to swallow, but I can guaranty that you wont be left thinking I wish I'd got the cheaper one.... Where as if you were to get the cheap one you will very soon be banging your head when something goes wrong and some nice peep says easy fix... plug in your IID tool Shocked Banging Head Banging Head Censored Big Cry

Trust me I've got the 'T' shirt, and I now have the IID tool... which has dramaticlly reduced the pain killer consumption, and reduced the amount of new dents in the walls Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

If you're going to keep the FF for any length of time it is well worth it, they always have a good resale value as well, so over it's life with you, it's cheap..... Pete

+1 for the IIDtool.

Their customer service is truly second to none. I bet they've helped a load of people on this forum get out of a jam.

They even downloaded a new software image for my BCU as mine for some reason had the wrong version on and nothing was working as it should. A few emails to Pat at GAP and he had it sussed, uploaded the software to my IIDtool and that was that.

As I said second to none, you won't regret buying one.

It is locked to a particular VIN for CCF adjustment, it will read and clear faults on all LR products that it works for, if you buy another vehicle I think it's £25 to get your tool swapped to that one or £60 to add another vehicle to your tool.... Thumbs Up Pete
