Hmm. I think the big question for how is, "How much more $ is worth it." The 11 is improved in many ways over the 07, but it's still the same car.

Just my opinion and I am a 3.6 driver but I have driven a couple of 4.4 TdV8s and while the gearbox ( for economy ) was way better ( low revs at motorway speed ) and the digital dash is much more advanced in appearance the two cars felt identical

Parts of that sum up where I am with this also. I've had my 3.6 for just over 3 years now and normally I'd be looking to change at this point. Having driven a 4.4 and also a 3.0 Disco4 I've decided that there isn't £15k worth of upgrade benefit that I'd notice. They are a more modern vehicle and I am sure many will say 'worlds apart' but IMHO that's simply not true.

This makes for a very interesting read, I too have had my 3.6 just over 3 years and so far it's been brilliant apart from a couple of very minor little things which you'll get with any motor. I've been reading how much the 4.4 owners generally love theirs, including our illustrious Moderator Stan and it got me wondering if it's worth moving on - but honestly I'm so happy with my 3.6 I cannot see any point, the differences are simply not worth so much money IMHO, but then as ever it's personal choice - you pays ya money and takes ya choice! |

I went from a 2003 TD6, and it's a different car that just shares the same body. The 4.4 is epic. I know you were asking about changing from a 3.6, but I've only ever driven one about 8 years ago at Eastnor Castle....

I also went from an early td6 to the 4.4tdv8 to get the last of the 322 shape, mainly because of the quontam leap in price 322 to 405. After 18 months of use, I certainly have no regrets.

I have owned a (04)4.4 petrol a (05)Td6 and a remapped 3.6tdv8 (albeit in a sport) and now a (11) 4.4tdv8. On paper my remapped 3.6 was as powerful as my 4.4 tdv8 but it certainly doesn't feel like it. My 4.4tdv8 is WAY quicker and i never got more than 26mpg from my sport whereas last weekend i did 700 miles in my new one and got almost 32mpg average over the weekend . Though i suspect the extra MPG is down to the fact its only doing just over 1100rpm at 70mph with the 8 speed Paul

To be honest if your wanting it for evonomynt might be the better choice but if you want a more reliable vehicle my advice is the 5:0 be it NA or SC outside of the UK as we've seen already the 4.4 has issues that while often sorted in warranty don't bode well for owners of used ones.

Well, I've had 2 of the 3.6 models, then 2 5.0 SC cars and now a L405 4.4 diesel.

^the TDV8 still has sequential turbos, a small one at lower revs and then a larger one which kicks in at higher (over2500) rpm.

I thought ours had a parallel / sequential turbo setup where a big one is normally used but then a smaller one comes in at the same time to help out at higher revs.....I can't find where I read it....some technical review.... 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

Surely the smaller one would be there all the time and for lower rev and quicker pickup and the big one for high revs
