Brc help

I've not had my 2003 4.4 long, today I filled up the tank up with lpg, the engine temp was halfway on the gauge and the car wouldn't switch over to lpg unless I pressed the button myself. Can anyone help?

Had you run out of LPG and the FF switched over to petrol on it's own, if it did then you have to switch back to LPG after filling up, it's not clever enough to know you filled up...!!! Pete

The last green led was flashing on the button, I have been out in the car a few times now and it won't switch over

So it won't switch to LPG at all, or you have to press the button every time you drive it..?? Pete

It won't switch on its own. I have to press the button my self or it will just run on petrol all the time

There will be something stopping it in the LPG ECU, you need to take it to an LPG specialist, the ECU's are just like all the rest in the car, it will store fault codes.....

Or buy a lead and the software on eBay and do some googling to learn how to play with it.... Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Pete

It sounds like a pressure sensor which isn't activating the system. It could also be a relay so check them first. However, as Haylands said, £40 for a lead and diagnostic cable and you'll be sorted!

It's a funny one... if it was a pressure sensor it wouldn't switch over even when asked, if it was a solenoid it wouldn't work at all, a thermistor fault would kill it dead as well... maybe software fault or the switch itself.... Thumbs Up Pete

if you were to disconnect the battery, you would on reconnection, have to (for first time) switch it over to lpg, and then, it should carry on everytime, so, maybe try a battery reset.

nothing to lose, except having to set the time date etc.

Do what John says but don't hold your breath...

If it's a BRC system then you need the BRC software and the correct lead to plug your laptop in...

If you want to do it yourself then do some googling and go on the LPG forums to learn how to do it and not make it worse... Thumbs Up

Try Tinleytech for parts, software and lead... Pete

Superb, we like a cheap fix, had LPG on loads of vehicles and never fixed one that easily....

Maybe worth getting a lead and software if they aren't too much and seeing if it tells you why it happened... Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Pete
