I agree he should try that. For me the slightest coolant leak smell jumps out. Perhaps it's the higher temp the 4.4 runs at and maybe the td6 runs cool enough to miss it.

Mine had a hairline crack in the expansion tank; took me a while to spot it as the leaking coolant evaporated from the tank surface.

Hi.

There is something like rest of evaporated coolant with white-rusty color which seems to come from a leak in the head gasket at the height of the cylinder 6.
Also, you can appreciate there is a losen bolt of the exhausted manifold. I suppose it has nothing to do with this puzzle.

Thanks

If that exhaust is blowing then you will get discolouration like that from the combustion gases mixing with water from the road etc...

Also a leak like that would show up with a pressure test of the system.... Pete

It is a starting point to check. Nothing looks wet and traceable. Try running the car around for 20 min or so. Shut off and see if any coolant is there. Check every 10 min as it cools.

Hi.

Well, finally, i have a diagnosis of that coolant leak. Unfortunately, the cylinder head is cracked.

To tell you the truth, I'm a bit dissapointed with BMW engines. I thought they were more reliable. Maybe former owner overheated the engine or, as I have been said, the cylinder head might have been cracked after a neglected repair of the turbo.

In a fex days i will have Rangie back, so we will see how it is working.

Anyway, thanks everybody.
