It would be great to test. Most of the RR posts I have read have been from LPG conversion owners but not all. Battery was number 2. Seems to be controversy if you can even get LPG of a quality less than proper. If you can get local consensus from LPG conversion owner where they have had problems and do a couple of tanks there the a couple of tanks of the good stuff.

Liquefied Petroleum Gas or LPG (also called Autogas) consists mainly of propane, propylene, butane, and butylene in various mixtures. It is produced as a by-product of natural gas processing and petroleum refining. The components of LPG are gases at normal temperatures and pressures. One challenge with LPG is that it can vary widely in composition, leading to variable engine performance and cold starting performance.

It's not as easy as just getting it from a particular supplier, it varies all the time from all suppliers... get a real poor tankful and problems start.... Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Pete

Maybe that explains why my gas grill has a mnd of its own.
I found this for my education on propane. http://www.propane101.com/propanegradesandquality.htm

Right then, it's nothing to do with LPG, got a new tankful from my usual place and it's still doing it...

Ran it on petrol today and it still did it....

It's not voltage either as the volts are always up there...

Very annoying that the faults CLEAR when you ask the IID tool to READ them... bit difficult to sort this when you can't find out what's wrong...!!! Big Cry Pete

I looked at a lot of BMW forums regarding this issue. When it isn't a major issue with driveability it ends up being MAF, throttle position sensor or dirty connection to ECU. Is their anything you can do to increase the chance of it getting set off? It seems like a momentary weak signal, like you get with old O2 sensors, sets this off. I know we are not supposed to drive too much with the iidtool in but if you can set these to record if tripped outside its normal values you might see something.

My IID is non BT so it won't do that...

I'll find it eventually, at least it doesn't do much to the normal running... Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Pete

Hey Pete.

Did you get this sorted?

I'm asking because mines showing hdc, eas and trans fail safe even after replacing the battery and alternator. I'm thinking abs module or speed sensor but more likely module. We'd ran the car for about 10 mins to the filling station then off to the pharmacy about another 5 mins, all the while no faults, we were then parked for about 10 mins and before we'd even started the car it bonged up eas, hdc and trans fail. So do you think abs module failing because of heat in the engine bay and being parked up for 10 mins with no fresh cool air being pulled through??

Forgot to mention the faults disappear a few hours later when the car is cold.

I don't recon it's heat related, mines done it twice now in just under three years, then been fine with no input from me to fix it... Can't pinpoint it, not heat/cold related, not wet/dry related.... All sensors working fine... I recon it's a gremlin in the BECM but that's just a theory....

Just one of those things... been fine for couple of months now....

Sometimes I wished I lived in Theory..... Rolling Eyes Pete

Went out this morning and as expected all faults gone, even though I can't clear them with the IIDtool when they occur. I then took it out again and sure enough after about 20 - 30 mins driving it bongs up again - hdc, eas and trans fail. I must point out that the gearbox isn't really in fail safe as it shifts normally - odd.

Going off BMW forums it definitely sounds like the abs module and I know it's not trivial so I'll put my abs module in for inspection and see if that solves it.

After all it's only another £120 Big Cry

I've never had trans fail fault, we probably have different problems... you have checked your voltage, haven't you...?? Thumbs Up Pete
