Also, on a related note.....I remember fitting LEDs to the interior of a Lexus some years ago. Because the original lights used to "fade" out (like turning a dimmer down) the LEDs didn't like this at all. They were far more suited to a binary on / off application. I'm sure LED light technology has moved on since but it's worth bearing in mind as far as I can remember the FF puddle lights do the fading thing.

Can you swap them door to door? That will definitely tell you if the bulb is at fault. 2006 4.2 SC

hi skot, firstly i can confirm that they do fade out when they or should i say it goes out. i have changed the one around into the other door and it works, ie the paessenger side bulb which noes not stay on, works fine when i put it in the drivers side. i have not tried the drivers side one in the passenger side as i could not see the point. as both white original bulbs work fine in either side

i sussed this led bulb problem out and it seems you need a resister or one of the old incandescent bulbs wired in, it all works then ... - .- -.

it does work and easy to do..you prise the two contacts from the ols bulb and solder in line with the new led..tape it up and tuck inside the mirror housing..only one side needs to be done.. ... - .- -.

This is effectively putting a low resistance in series with the LED. As the LED draws very little current, the old globe probably won't light up, and its resistance won't change a lot as the current flows through it but it will slightly reduce the voltage on the LED. Generally, when people have LED issues (and it's not a polarity issue), they put a low value resistor in parallel with the LED, not in series, to increase the current flow though the sensing circuit. I thought that was why they introduced " Canbus" led bulbs and presumed they had a resistor built in. Am I wrong?
