Inactive suspension and icarsoft

Hi all

All the way to Spain and back with no issues. Shoot to Asda and now have Air Suspension Inactive message.
Brake Fluid ok. No height adjustment lights available. No other warnings. Car at normal ride height. Battery charged.

I'm guessing I'm going to have to bite the bullet and buy a diagnostics. I appreciate Gap is the best, but don't really have the £300 available. I've seen Icarsoft for £100. Now I was pointed into buying one for my CL Merc and it's been awesome for diagnostics on that.

Just wondering if anyone's had any experience on the l322 or is Gap the only way to go?

Car still useable at moment but guessing it's only a matter of time before I take it to a dealer to diagnose. Buy my own. Or beer tokens to anyone localish? Dartford Bridge area.

Many thanks

I bought an icarsoft for the same reason - lack of funds and suspension not working. It cleared it without a problem. And I paid £85 on eBay. I figured that if I use it three times rather than going to the local garage I'd be in credit.
Just need to fit a new fuel pump tomorrow and hopefully I'll be back on the road......

Pete your a diamond. Thanks so much, may take you up on that if needed. Where are you going to be mate? I'll travel to you if i cant clear it. Cars not dropped at all, no other warning lights on, Im taking it the worse that could happen is it drop to the bump stops and 20MPH? Ideally could do with using it from Gravesend to Bluewater this week? What you reckon?

Im going to have a go with a icarsoft. Found one for £90 and if theres half a chance it could clear it or point me in the right direction like Chris says may be worth the gamble. The guys on the MB forum recomended one for my CL and it works great. I appreciate it doesnt do everything the Gap one does, but its affordable.

Clive, tried that, but no joy. I had a P38 before and parking it outside supermarkets or big stores used to throw the imobiliser on. Something to do with the same frequency either their wifi, or doors or something used to throw out. Answser for the first 6 weeks was to push it out of range and then it would start ok. Then LR redesigned the receiver on the P38 and it stopped the issue.

Cheers

Tel, just did over 1,000miles in mine with EAS inactive fault up, no lights on... was fine...

Mine was two height sensors worn out and I was busy and didn't have time to change them, changed them now and it's all back good again...

Birthday party in Swanley on Saturday, but we're down for the weekend so should be able to sort something out... I'll text you... Thumbs Up Pete

I bought an iCarSoft for the reason, on a budget suspension not working and it's been great since!

Luckily mine was because the rprevious owner unplugged the compressor!

If it stays at normal height I wouldn't worry too much usually just a 'soft' fault ie height sensor issue

Unless two height sensors go at the same time, then it hard faults a self levelling fault... Interestingly I cleared it and it came back, then awhile later one of the height sensors starting working and the fault went soft.... fixed itself when I changed both sensors...!!!

Strange things these FF's... Rolling Eyes Pete

As always, thanks so much guys for all your help again!!

Plugged i930 in (have a basic idea of it as have one for my merc). Threw up loads of errors. Air suspension one was something about "articulation fault". Like the neanderthal I am I went and cleared all the faults without noting them down! Air compressor instantly kicked in and height panel came back to life. Spent a min or so levelling out and then all seems ok.
Turned off and on a few times (not drove it) but all errors are staying clear.

To me it sounds like the pump is kicking in and out quite a bit, but maybe just never noticed. Let's see what tomorow brings.

Thanks so much guys

And Pete thanks so much for your kind offer mate. Your a true gent. Hope I can offer to help you sum day.

Cheers guys
Fingers crossed Accept, some days your the pigeon, some days your the statue!

Articulation fault will most probably be a height sensor playing up, they usually give you a few weeks notice so expect to have to change one sooner or later... Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Pete

Sorry to resurrect an old post.

Car was all fine after resetting the Air Suspension Inactive with the i930. (Didn't note the code just cleared it Wink )

A week or so later I found the N/S/F airbag with a hole in it. Changed it no probs. Have done approx 1000 miles and now got the Air Suspension Inactive again. The i980 clears it but comes back on within a mile or so.
Faults are:-

In the "Suspension" section... Articulation Validity Fault (this clears and resets Suspensiono all ok but reappears after 1-2 miles)
In the "ABS" section... Brake fluid level switch 0x006c (will not reset)
Air Suspension system CAN error 0x008A (will not reset)
Temporary system deactivation 0x005A (will not reset)

Pete, I'm hanging on your words "Articulation fault will most probably be a height sensor playing up, they usually give you a few weeks notice so expect to have to change one sooner or later... Thumbs Up Thumbs Up"

Is there anyway I can work out which one it could be? Car isn't dropping on any corner?

Anyone come across this?

Cheers

Tel...

"ABS" section... Brake fluid level switch 0x006c (will not reset) Not connected
Air Suspension system CAN error 0x008A (will not reset) All our old FF's have that one
Temporary system deactivation 0x005A (will not reset) Not seen that one...

Mine had the articulation fault but ran fine, kept coming back and then a couple of weeks later two sensors gave up, changed them and it's been fine since...

If you can get into the live values from them you may see some anomalies, never got round to looking at mine before they finally gave up though...

Does yours sit level when the fault comes on...??? Pete

Hey Pete. Thanks fella

I'm sure the car is sitting level with or without fault. Drives all ok just no Suspension height lights on dash and the warning is on.

Will go and attempt to check the values with the i980 ( Rolling with laughter this should be funny!!)

When I reset the Articulate Validity fault, everything works as it should. I reset the same issue a month or so ago (last time we chatted) and it's stayed off since. Now it only stays off for 1-2 mile

Well that's a good toy! Hadn't played with that part of it before!

Brake Fluid Level Switch shows up as "closed"

Now I had already cleared the fault when I parked car so at time of this reading, there are no warnings on, suspension is all level and square and the height control functions properly. Cars parked on level (as I can get) ground.

Started car up and at normal ride height I got:-
Front R volts= 3.05v
Front R Height= -5.86
Front L volts= 34.43v
Front L Height= 36.26
Rear R volts= 2.92v
Rear R Height= 16.41
Rear L Volts= 2.56v
Rear L Height= 13.25

Still running I lowered car to bump stops:-
Front R volts= 3.62v
Front R Height= -49.29
Front L volts= 46.35v
Front L Height= -37.05
Rear R volts= 1.63v
Rear R Height= -39.69
Rear L Volts= 1.76v
Rear L Height= -50.14

Still running I put it in extended, then back to normal
Front R volts=
Front R Height= 8.29
Front L volts=
Front L Height= 14.93
Rear R volts=
Rear R Height= 1.46
Rear L Volts=
Rear L Height= 1.95

So the heights are a bit all over the place?? But the voltage on front left seems to be the only glaring difference?
I'll take it for a drive in bit and recheck them all again when the fault shows. Accept, some days your the pigeon, some days your the statue!

Looks like front left sensor then, the rest seem OK, they will never be the same, just close....

Only use a genuine one, the copies don't last.... Thumbs Up Pete
