2 sump plugs - 3.6 TDV8

I am on the train on the way back from London and just having a mooch about the site.

My 3.6 TDV8 07 is in at the moment getting a new alternator, I have asked that the turbo pipes get changed whilst it is stripped down, and an oil change - might aswell whilst it is in the garage.

It seems from various threads that there might be a second drain (sump) plug, something to do with the turbo, rather than just the obvious oil drain plug, is that right ??

If so where is it and what does it drain that the main drain doesn't ?

Not sure how things look like inside the sump but as long as there are two, it seems wise to drain both. "Plentraktoren/Garden tractor": 2008 L322 TDV8

Do both. Same sump, but the oil return ends up by the 2nd plug which is normally overlooked. ends up caking up and you lose oil return from the turbos. Which is bad.

Open both and let them fully drain. If you have no proof it has been done then do a short service cycle and change the oil again in a couple of 1000 miles using the same method. Thumbs Up There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

one thing, be ready, not a lot of room and it drains straight onto the subframe....unless someone had drilled a hole through.. 2008 TDv8 Vogue in Java black x2

I put a hole in my L322’s subframe mainly so I could get a socket to the sump plug. ______________________________
