Citroën berlingo

My lads bought an 07 plate berlingo van, just for work. Just over 100k , now the key fob has been playing up last week, he's been away a few days, and now the fob won't open the car, we've changed the fob battery, still no different.
Do any of you kind lads on here know what we could try, he only had one key with the car.
Any advice would be great.
Sorry forgot to mention, the key is just turning in the lock, looks like someone's disconnected it.
Thanks Greg.

Have you tried the other locks as there should be one on the back door or passenger door unless its base spec?

Failing that you could be scuppered as it could also be deadlocked Sad

Its not uncommon for the lock barrels to have worn down and not recognise the correct key, sometimes it needs jiggling or a spray of WD40. If its just spinning then its not recognising it as the correct key and needs to be cleaned out and the key as well maybe. A little bit of upward or downward force can sometimes do the trick.

I'd check with the last owner if they had done anything with the locks if you can get hold of them.

Citroen do replacement key blanks IIRC for under £20 and are cut from the specs the vehicle left the factory with and take about 1-2days to arrive from France or Slough. this could be the easier option... FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

Hi kp, thanks for your reply, I've managed to open the driver's door, and all the other doors have opened as well, it took a few attempts, but as you say, a little up and down pressure did the trick.
the van starts fine, although it has a misfire, son says it does it until it warms up, then it's fine.
It appears previous owner had trouble as passenger side lock is what looks like the head of a coach bolt in place of the lock, the sliding side door doesn't turn at all and has one of those armour guard plates over it as does rear door lock, although that one turns.
the remote now is unresponsive, and it won't lock, fortunately, he goes away Thursday, so I've told him to drop it at mine and I'll have a play with it, see if I can get the locks working.
Knew there were some Citroën/Peugeot gurus on here.
cheers, greg. Thumbs Up

I'd see how much a new lock is from Citroen as they aren't too hard to do either but if the side and rear have the armour lock plates maybe get an armour lock.

If it's a diesel and is a bit off before it warms then it's likely to be a dead plug or two(not uncommon for them to all have gone or glowplug relay failure).

The remote may just need repairing, its covered in the manual how to do it as the starting immobiliser runs off an rfid style chip in the key.

Squirt wd40 into a lock and hen user the key to work it thru then a lithium style grease as the wd cleans but you need he grease to protect and keep it smooth. Easier to do this than replace a lock if it works!

If it's the 1.6hdi then urgently check the injector clamp bolts! FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

Thanks kp, yes it is the 1.6 hdi, 75ps I believe.
I will try and work the locks, some good reading on the net, he doesn't have the manual, but I believe it can be downloaded.
Will also check injector clamps, thanks for the heads up.

Thought I would update this, repaired fob to car, I think his battery in the fob died, then lost the rolling code, downloaded manuel, and it's as easy as key in ignition, turn on, press lock button once, turn off remove key, and that's it, fobs working like a good one.
haven't had much success with the locks though, he'll end up replacing them.
@ kp, the injector clamps are fine, so suspect glow plugs or relay, I know he has a service up soon, so get him to get garage to have a look.
thanks again for the input.
Greg. Thumbs Up
