I seem to have a small problem with the brakes on mine.

No binding, have checked this out, but i do seem to require more pedal force to get the same result as the 3.6, its only marginal but i have noticed it.

I have had the recall done, the pedal isn't spongy just seems to require more braking effort. I am going to change the pads and discs to see if it makes any difference, and for piece of mind.

Any one else noticed this or are they pin sharp like a good set of 6 pot callipers should be? There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

They should be pin sharp! I drive them often, all different ones and they usually feel more positive than 4 pots!

Will be new discs and pads then!

Probably down to contamination again like the last set on the 3.6, will have a look when I take them apart. Is there a torque setting for the caliper bolts. I'm assuming it's low as they are alloy? There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

well they have changed the design of the calipers so the bolts don't bolt straight to the calipers any more, they bolt to an steel insert on the calipers, so they are now tight...... and require what looked like a special socket, but was actually a standard non Hex socket! but fundamentally the same procedure as the 3.6

Thanks to Dan for a very good Price, but I ended up shouting at the supplying main dealer as they were in a pretty bad state, they gave me an extra special price on the parts. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Hi

I have a 2010 5.0 SC and I think the same. It's just been into JLR where new pads were fitted all round. The hose mod was also done. Now I have it back, I don't think it's much better.
My last car was a 2006 TDV8 (3.6), that was much better.

No, it should be fairly straight forwards.

Have a look on the wiki, it's the same process as the 4 pots on the 3.6👍 There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

PS will a normal caliper piston spreader deal with the six pots??never tackled a brembo caliper. Have them on my Porsche and not needed to do them yet. 2012 4.4TDV8 VSE

I did it with the pads and a pair of grips

Do it before you remove the caliper to replace the disc.

Squeeze the pads against the caliper with a pair of big grips. Squeeze and replace the pad on one side at a time so the Pistons in the other side don't pop out, putting in the new pads as packers before you swap the disc.

Then take out the new pads remove the caliper and disc. Then when refitting you should have the caliper retracted enough. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

I've noticed the same on my 4.4 TDV8 and without point of reference (this is my first FF), I have been putting it down to the weight of the vehicle etc. Although they stop well enough, they don't have as much initial bite as I expected from six-pot brakes...discs and pads are in good fettle.

Yeah, my Supercharged is like that too, almost as if the servo is not rated highly enough. However, give them a mighty stomp and the car stops on a sixpence.

Im chuffed to bits with these calipers and discs Craig fitted to this one before i brought it and im glad i never brought any other one as the few ive driven dont come close to power or quietness for a diesel there the best ive ever driven and used on a range i use greenstuff pads and stops better than a pals sports car  _____________________________________________________
