Hi was wondering if anyone would have any idea why the tilt mechanism on my RR wont work ? Have no idea as to why, thanks in advance.

Expensive replacement plastic part from a chap in Germany fixed it for me, far cheaper than replacing the complete mechanism and a home job to boot.

The poster is asking about Tilt , not reach so that part is not involved. The Tilt has a weak point where the a piece of metal snaps off which in the worst case leaves the steering wheel in your lap. Question is has it ever worked in your ownership? if so it could be seized, motor stuffed, turned off etc. If it has never worked it could be the previous owner has done a modification after the tilt metal part has broken off. Easy enough to take off the steering column cover to see whats going on.

Sorry for the misunderstanding, neither the reach or tilt mechanism work, this was like this when I bought the car.

If you remove the steering column shroud (three T20 torx screws, you need a screwdriver not a socket to reach them) then you can manually adjust it with either an allen key in the end of the gear screw or a flatblade screwdriver depending on which type you have...

Bit of a pain if you have more than one driver but it is possible...  Pete

It's a well known failure, if it's not physically broken then the motors give up, they are a fortune to buy, several places around doing reconditioned units but they are still expensive....  Pete

Oh ok , not quite the same as mine then. My colum works as adjusts to previous owners settings when you press the memory buttons but the stalk does nothing. Hoping it may just be a stalk fault, need to get a replacement and fingers crossed.

Oh I see... OP's didn't work at all so not quite the same, you're in luck, will probably be the stalk which is much cheaper than the motors... result...  Pete
