Driving back from Devon at the weekend at a reasonable motorway speed I occasionally got a sound like a Horn being blown for a second or so. Thought it might be one of the air intake flaps resonating etc. Only hear it at high speed and never had it before.

Happens on my car, but only on warm days (over 20 deg cels) and after a period of motorway driving at at 70+. If itvwas the screen/pillar trim, it would happen all the time wouldn't it? |

No personal experience, but also read it can be the rubber seal between the cabin air intake and the bonnet, which may need cleaning and a little Vaseline on. Also it may go away if the recirculating air flap is opened (ie turn off recirc) |

I've heard this is caused by (at least) one of two things. the recirculation motor faulty or not closing opening properly/completely or ususally the lower (sometimes upper) windshield molding bending and coming apart from windshield. OffRoadRover.com An American Western Range Rover Off Road Blog |

Thanks for the replies - I will check the places suggested. I did switch off the recirc as I thought of that first but it didn't make any difference. It was over 20 degrees that day and not had it since. "On first name terms with my local Dealer......now."

My vote would be the a pillar trim, depends quite a bit on if there are cross winds etc. Ed |

I've had/have similar wind noises. One was the A pillar trim. Cracked part broke off so that sound is gone. The other may be similar to yours. I notice there is a vibration in the windshield when it gets tone. Between 62 and 72 MPH. |

Happens regularly. On a motorway run. After about 20 minutes.

I cleaned and treated my faded screen base trim and the sealing rubbers under the bonnet with Meguiar's plastic treatment. Can't remember the exact name. It got the scuttle trim to the right colour after a couple of goes and cleaned the sealing rubbers. Went on a 70+ run today with no noise at all.

I'm not sure what reply you are commenting on. If it's mine my sound returns anytime I'm in that speed range. |

had similar, was the sunroof seal, but if your noise isn't coming from... up... then its probably not that.

I get a noise at about 70+ as you say and it sounds like a ticket or something is caught in a wind socket flapping around and sadly louder than the speakers sometimes. It comes from the LHS of the screen so sadly cant see it when i drive. Not sure what it is!! |

I have similar noise coming from LH side while driving over 70km/h. Could it be left a lose wing grille air intake? |
