United Kingdom 2016 Range Rover Autobiography SDV8 Santorini Black

Nice one Stan.

How do you think it compares with the 4.2? There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer๐Ÿ˜œ๐Ÿ˜œ

Stan, can you tell us about the differences you are experiencing between the new and the old both in terrms of the different engine and the ride/handling etc etc? Would be great to hear! Put two Rhodeasian Ridgebacks in a Range Rover and pretty soon it's their Ridge Rover.

Really smart Stan. Had no idea you were after a change Wink

Black isn't too hard to keep clean if you keep on top of it. Get it all polished and that... Then buy a snow foam bottle to plug into your power washer lance. It's dead easy to keep it clean and shiny then. Just once a week is all it needs really.

Thumbs Up

Very nice indeed, Stan.

You're going to miss that Supercharged character, but you'll be wafting with the very best of them. Thumbs Up Si. <This is my name.

thank you all very much for the compliments chaps.. Thumbs Up

i've only driven it for a few days with a 2 hour journey home from the dealer using motorway and 'A' roads so my initial thoughts are that at low speed/idle the SC engine is a little quieter than the tdv8 but around 30mph upwards you dont notice any difference...

my wife and i found we could hold a lower volume conversation in the tdv8 the 'cab' when on the motorway travelling around 80mph [1500rpm] , probably down to the acoustic windscreen and front side glass..

also at speed the tdv8 was much more planted on the road [heavier engine?] and felt more grunty than the SC..
you had to rev the SC more to get going whereas the torquey tdv8 engine is much more lazy and with the 8 speed box i found you dont get the gear downshift when going up hills ..

the digital dash is brilliantly clear to see , i found the SC dials a little hard to see in dull conditions and therefore i had to switch the lights on to illuminate them..

i have a westie and the seats are more 'sofa' then the SC seats which were a bit 'chair' like...

like i said its early days but i've found the tdv8 more 'likeable' to drive and to be in, and a big bonus is the the mpg
which returned approx 12 extra miles to the gallon than the SC [combined A roads and motorway] ..

was the tdv8 worth the extra lump of money to upgrade from my SC, well i have a 3 1/2 year old car [with 2 year LR warranty] rather than a 8 year old one and my head says maybe but me heart says defo and as most say, 'you only live once'. Very Happy ... - .- -.

Yes! That's a proper one!
The low down grunt is impressive, but they really do downshift going up hills...maybe the 8 speed 'box is good enough that you didn't notice Very Happy
