If you have a budget of the £11.5k that D3 is at then I'd be thinking of a £6-7k car and some spare for maintenance, servicing etc. You don't say how old your son is; is he a teenager and this is his first car or is he a mature chap who has just decided to do his test now? You know him best so if a D3 is the one, I'd go for it....however adverts that say things like "people think this looks £30k" make me cringe...if it's an honest car, just be honest!

Thanks for your kind reactions Was out and just got back. My son will be 18, I let him drive my classic and vintage cars, he even drives my rhd Range Rover. He is far more sensible than I ever was. So I am not to worried about his driving. I would never give him a small car, for daily driving. He never got a motorbike or scooter or something like that for the same safety reasons. France is well known for it's huge amount of bike accidents. Main reason for asking was not his way of driving but the reliability and your experience with that kindof car. Lada = never, hate it. He might like it though Thanks again guys |

Get a chair, and use it whilst getting some insurance quotes.

How can I beat all those experienced parents? That you are worried about my wallet is really (I'm serious) touching me. Reading between the lines I must be stubborn or an idiot, or both, to get him a car that big. Maybe you are right. I'll have another night of sleep before I decide.... |
