Intermittent Chirp - how do I fix?

[img]My 2010 MY makes a chirping noise every few hours.

I have read another post on here where it was suggested that it could be the back up battery for the alarm, it certainly sounds like it could be from the alarm but how do I fix it?

Ps suspecting the car battery was at fault I had it tested and was told it was fine.[/img]

Yes I do do a search and came up with the same result as Alistair but that contains sassiest acne in fixing the problem, was hoping someone had fixed the problem and can let me know how?

Is it a case of replacing the siren?
Can the back up battery be replaced in my existing one?
Where is the siren? Is it easy to get at?

Sorry if I'm being a bit thick, every other search I've done usually produces some comprehensive answers.

Thanks again.

Think of it as an opportunity Whistle

Don't forget to take plenty of photo's & if you're lucky Stan will add it to the Wiki Thumbs Up

Sorry I can't be of any constructive help - I've not heard of that one before - but the linked post does make some sense, that if the car battery is good, it's probably trying to warn you that the alarm backup battery (assuming there is one) is on the way out.

My previous 2011 vogue had a chirp on Tick over from new - the dealer swore there was nothing wrong with it....

I coped with it until it was sold on. So can't help I'm afraid. 2005 L322 Vogue Gold gone

I get the chirping about 20 miles into a motorway drive. Regular it is.
It's the PDFs regenerating, isn't it.

If by a chirp you mean an irritating high pitched noise similar to that on the old BBC test card, then yes I have the same problem. When I was in the UK in February I visited a dealership to find out if they knew what it was but they drew a blank. I have recorded the noise which can be heard when coming down to unlock the vehicle and there is no key in the ignition. Sometimes it stops when the engine starts and at other times, it continues for about 15-20 minutes before stopping. It has also started and finished whilst out driving it.

Regards,

Steve

My 2010 range rover has just started doing exactly the same. It is a shrill, short, chirp noise of a second or less, but it seems to do it regularly every few hours. As the car is parked in the garage, I don't always hear it, but when I do, it always seems to be at half past the hour! It has scared the life out of me a couple of times when I was in the garage and it made the noise.

The main battery is fully charged and was replaced less than a year ago.

To try and fault find the problem, tomorrow I will leave the car unlocked and see if it happens then. Does yours only do it when the alarm is on? 2010 5.0 SC Autobiography

Only chirping i got (stopped for new) was from inside the engine bay, could hear it inside the car.
To cut a long story short is was (or still is as done nothing about it) a small fan under the ecu? whixh helps keep it cool.
Bit vague i know but not looked into it further.
Happens when i unlock and sometimes when driving and locking the car, fan carries on for about 10 mins

I believe its warn and the occasional chirp shound is made when spinning.
(drivers side)
And from memory im sure i could hear it though one of the vents or under the dash by the peddles

Hope this helps
