Thanks for the replies.
I'm suprised nobody has wired in the sub to an amp already! I'll leave it till all the rest is working and then take a look at which 2 wires I'll need to use

Going to make a start tomorrow Smile

If your old like me you don't want all that "thump thump thump"... I recon it sounds much better without it...... Thumbs Up Pete

Surprisingly enough I'm really missing having a sub, in the new bus Sad It's not so much the Thump thump, but the lower notes are a bit tinny without out it Thumbs Up

Pete I've got this picture in my mind that you pop down to the local shop to change your Battery Accumulator every week..... Wink

Ohwhatalad, sorry bud I thought that you meant the wires from the new head unit Laughing What Pete says.... the L/R sub has a built in amp... but you need to send a signal over the canbus to turn it on.... to save a lot of Banging Head I would be inclined to bypass all the L/R wiring and connect an external amp directly to the speakers.... I haven't looked at the ffrr unit, but I wouldn't think it's beyond the wit of man to gain access to the internals and run in some external feeds Thumbs Up Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Spent a couple hours on it today.
Got the wiring all done in the boot and fired it up. All working apart from one rear mid speaker which is very crackly. So think it's blown.
Apart from that all good. Tomorrow the trim comes out so I can run the cable in!

All in, i run a rca cable from the Camera input on the unit to the back aswell so when i get time ill have to look into fitting a universal reverse camera from ebay

i think i would just need to run positive from reverse light and a negative.
not sure what the reverse cable from the head unit is for though! main part is done at least Smile

Well done... reversing wire is to tell the sat nav you are in reverse... not a massive issue so I didn't bother with it...

i think i would just need to run positive from reverse light and a negative.

Yep, that's about it.. can pick one of each up going into the tailgate... Thumbs Up Pete

Just to say that I am new on here, I have read the thread and it is very very good, I have a 2007 RR Vogue and want to change my head unit - i understand that this is difficult because of an Amp ?? - as i had a boot full of water and I am getting intermittent problems with the Nav and Phone

I am in West Yorkshire anyone advise of anyone who can supply and fit a replacement unit

Once again superb thread

Sorry, won't fit your year because of the fibre optics, your only option is to repair what you have... Pete

Thankyou - I thought that maybe the case.

I could do with someone who knows what they are doing have a look over it, do you know anyone i can take it too that can look at the electronics - it's silly things like I have to pair the phone every time I get into the car, it works fine but needs pairing etc

I think it needs a 'laying on of hands'from someone who knows what they are doing

Thanks for this write up Haylands, this was an absolute godsend when I set about installing mine. Two of us over two days and the job is done Smile

I went for the android head unit, DAB tuner, Digital TV and a wifi reversing camera.

My only question to anyone else that did this with the TV and DAB, is where did they locate the 3 aerials?? They are short aerials (maybe 3") with magnetic bases. I tried to locate them on the dash however the reception was terrible, so currently have them running out the side trim and up the A pillar and on the roof. Nobody notices them but I am wary I cant go through a car wash with them!

Well.........Its in !

Huge thanks to Master Haylands for this post and to all that contributed to it.

Very pleased with the results, Only problem, Steering wheel buttons are not working so unsure if its a faulty canbus system?
Any ideas ?

Also, have a slight buzz/rumble out of a couple speakers (Guess they are blown), should i upgrade or buy like for like from a breakers?

Anyways, If i can follow these instructions, anyone can !!!! The hardest part really is removing all the trim !

Do you have a link to this unit? Thanks!

It's got £7 cheaper since I bought it in Spring too. When you buy it if you add in your message its for a RR they can tell you how to get into the settings that change the start up logo to Land Rover as mine was BMW when I got it.

Ok great, thank you very much! The green looks nice. I just wish it had flat sides and not the curved edges bc they stick out. Im still looking around for the right unit.
