Arrived and it looks great. However my key blade doesn't fit in the ignition

I have an 06'SC with straight land rover keys can you get flip keys for them?

Same problem here. Key will slot into ignition but won't turn. Can hear the transponder click and the buttons work to open and lock the car so guess it's back to Timpsons tomorrow to get the key-cut checked.

Looking at the two side by side I can tell very marginal differences - the whole cut may be a milimetre or so off on one side. Will let you know how I get on. And thanks Dave for talking through the process on the phone with me Sunday. Super helpful!  African Bush Junkie ... in London!

Did you ever get a flip key to work on a 2006. Mine is a 2006 SC What doesn't kill you is just bidding it's time.

As I am new to this thread. What is required to order one? If a blade is needed for this I have one already cut in an EBay flip key I tried to have programmed. What doesn't kill you is just bidding it's time.

Hi Daveo,
I've only just signed up to the forum as I've only bought the car a couple of days ago (54'plate TD6)
I only have one key (traditional style with 3 buttons). It's weak at unlocking the car but it starts it ok.
I would like an additional key (probably a flip key) as its not great just having one key obviously.
Could you please advise what I need to do to get another key to open/start the car?
Again - sorry, I'm very new to this at the moment.

Hi
getting a new flip key to open and close the doors is the easy bit the problem you have it the transponder chip that is in your original key, this tells the car that it is and current and live key with the correct rolling code and it what will allow you to start the car, it can not be copied or cloned.
so you have two options ..first one is to remove the chip from your old key and put it in to the new one this would give you a complete new style working key but you still will be left with one key
the only way to get a second key is to read the EWS and program a new transponder chip
i can do this but need the unit and your key from your car ..this will leave it undriveable until you get it back

Just remember if you order a new key from the main dealers you will get the old style 3 button key and not a flip key as you want

For clarity, what does the old style key and new style key look like? I am assuming I have the old style one and the new style flip key has the chrome edge that has Range Rover embossed in the chrome?
