Guys is this http://www.paddockspares.com/auto-transmission-service-kit-1.html the correct kit for a 03 Vogue transmission oil/filter change. Probably won't buy Britpart but just want to confirm correct parts plus oil of course.

Yes that does appear to be correct. For the early v8. And at a cheap price too. Just make sure you are using the correct lt71141 fluid, and not equivilent. It's about £11 a litre, and only badged as Mobil. Get it online. P.s. It's honey/yellow coloured. |

It's also badged as Esso too, Esso is the same company as Mobil. |

The auto box is one area where it doesn't pay to use pattern parts - try Dan at Duckworths, he was very helpful when I did mine. |

normally i'd agree but the filter is a VERY basic item, it's nothing special. |

I had a quick look underneath today and could not see the filler plug on the gearbox. Any idea where its located, left, right, front back etc. There is a plug just to the front of the sump pan but somehow I don't think that is it.

It’s on the right-hand side of the casing near the back of the transmission

Might be a daft question but anyway here goes. When I was changing the gearbox oil and filter the other day, I was wondering if there is any way to get extra oil out rather than just what drains from the sump. Would giving it a dig of the starter push more back into the sump or would that be a mad thing to do and possibly cause damage.

The torque converter and valve body do retain a lot of fluid. Personally I’m a fan of just doing a drain and refill as it refreshes only just over half of the fluid and so reduces the risk of ‘detergent shock’ (i.e. the fresh fluid cleaning out all the gunk that has settled in the nooks and crannies) and also upsetting the controller’s adaptions through changing the clutch-pack friction characteristics.
