Hill Descent Switch

So ... my dear child thought he'd surprise me by jumping into the front seat whilst I was opening up the rear door to get him out.

Surprise me he did - he's managed to snap off the top of the Hill Descent Switch on the centre console - so all I have is a bit of rough plastic - can't get a grip on it either so can't use the function. Big Cry
Thankfully car is in normal mode so I can still drive it.

So what's the solution? Open up the centre console and replace said switch I assume? Is this available as a standalone part or am I looking at a breakers?

Over to the gurus ...

I'm told that the switch is only avalable as part of the whole panel. I'm missing the switch top on mine, but at least I do have the two prongs sticking up so I can still operate the switch.

Should you be willing to sell the top of your broken switch to me I'd be happy to provide some small offset to the cost of the new panel.

you can get special superglue for plastics. It normally has a marker pen with an activator in it as well as the normal glue. That's pretty strong.

You could try drilling a small hole in to the two parts and adding a wire dowel to strengthen the join. Only Range Rovers since 1988

Similar issue with mine although was SWMBO handbag that she insists on putting on top of cubby box, then voila, first braking and it flies down and takes switches out, both mine have gone and will go again. I have put a couple of screws into the bottom plastic bit and although ugly, work perfectly Thumbs Up

Had one of mine break so managed to get a second hand part and change the switch over, these just click into place on the plastic struts. Also if you do manage to get a second hand switch if you turn it over you can undo the switch under the panel and swap that over to your panel. If yours needs a new sticker showing the different stages these are available on eBay that's if someone on here can supply those. Fiddly job but easily doable if you take your time and care when pushing on or pulling off the switches.

I had this on my previous car - our 5 year old (then) decided to jump through the gap and snap exactly the same

only solution for me was a new panel.. Ash

They used to sell a cheap version of the panel years ago. Don’t know if its still that way? Maybe ask Ducky Dan?
