Hi all, got a big problem and I know you can help. I have a complete flat battery and car is super locked, have tried the usual tricks but I'm now at the stage where I'm thinking of breaking in through the window! If anyone can help me could you please pm me and I will appreciate it. Thanks

What are the usual tricks that you've tried ?

if you take the under tray off you should be able to connect a positive jump lead to the back of the alternator and the negative anywhere on the engine.

That should give it enough juice to unlock it.

Hi Alistair, I tried taking the front right fog out and plug a donor battery to it to liven it up enough to physically use the key to open the door but it didn't work. Don't do side repeater it doesn't work.

Do you think I could jack up the front of the car when its securely locked as the suspension has sagged, without setting the alarm off?

do you have a tow bar?

If you can get a feed onto the starter motor then you should be able to get enough juice from a donor battery to open it. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Front fog light Haven't heard that one before - it wouldn't have a permanent live connection there would it ?

As suggested above, the only 2 that I know of are tow electrics for a slow charge, or back of the alternator for a fast charge.

The live from the alternator is connected to the battery with a big thick cable - so that's as good as it gets for getting power in - just make sure you connect the live first & make sure its the right connection on the alternator before connecting the negative.

You should be able to connect onto the large cable connection on the starter on a TD6 without dismantling anything.
It's direct to the battery via the jump stud.
You will get a good earth connecting to any large bolt head or stud in the same vicinity.

I also read about using the front fog light ,but on every occasion they refer to using the near side ? 2007 tdv8 se ,stornaway grey

just had a look at the wiring diagram, i can't see how feeding power to either fog lamp would give a permanent live.

apparently there is a way in through the number plate light and pop the tailgate, maybe do a search? although I am sure it hasnt been open posted

My recollection of the 2004 car was that it had a physical key that could unlock the driver door - is that not right?

The later cars have a physical key inside the key fob that is meant to open the passenger door if you prise off a bit of the handle and go in from under the handle - except I couldn't get it to open the door, the LR Assistance technician did eventually manage.

When I was stuck with a flat battery in a field beside the Tweed one evening, the (2004) car would not react despite having been on jumpleads, I called LR Assistance despite not having had it since the guarantee expired (car 7 1/2 years old then) and they put me through to a tech adviser who said what to do (short out the battery to clear things I think). Clearly one could not do that all the time, but worth a try in an emergency one-off situation. 0800 521 786. Only Range Rovers since 1988

As said above, have you tried the key, just been reading my manual for my 2008, it states that superlocking occurs automatically with remote and key locking. No mention key lock being isolated
