The Grom unit will allow direct connection with charging via lead, and full streaming via bluetooth, and both have steering wheel control. And you can run an ipod via the lead and connect a separate phone via bluetooth at the same time. It will pause the ipod during calls, and switch the steering wheel controls to the phone, at the end of the call it all goes back to the ipod where you left off.

Thanks! I have actually spoken to him but I think the Grom solution suits me better. |

No problems Buddy, although I must warn you that we were all stupid enough to end up addicted to Range Rovers.... some places that would be grounds to lock you up in a padded room

This is an interesting thread re the Grom units but I still have a couple of things I'm not yet clear about. I've just bought myself a 2002 L322 TD6 Vogue, It has the Sat Nav, the CD Player & DSP. Will the Grom units work with this combination. I'm happy to loose the CD Player & probably wont bother with the SAT Nav as its so out of date, But I'm pretty desperate to get some sort of auxiliary input working. As a British ex pat in France I very much rely on my Phone (android) for streaming good quality BBC radio when I'm on the move.

The Grom Bt3 unit Replaces the CD Changer and allows you to connect a phone via Bluetooth, which will give you hands free calls and live streaming from the phone, **PLUS** you can add an ipod via the lead, this will allow you to control your ipod from the steering wheel and still receive calls from the paired phone Oh and it will charge the unit too

Thank you Miggit for your speedy response. My main concern was as to whether it would work with the DSP as it seems many alternative units wont. I think the best thing I can do is get one ordered & into the car.

I had hoped it would be an easy DIY job but it is not easy to remove the CD changer. Apparently you need to disassemble the glovebox, remove the CD changer, attach the cable to the Grom (and fasten the Grom to something) and finally reassemble the glovebox. Assembly and disassembly of the glovebox is doable but I read on the forum that it is a lot easier if you've done it before. I am now waiting for my mechanic to do it for me. |

I was thinking as the CD player is basically a defunct piece of kit & that once its out I can't ever see it going back in, maybe I should just sacrifice it. IE go in through it until I can get it out. I know it seems a bit extreme but what the hell will I do with it once its out? Just bin it I imagine. Any thoughts, before I get the Chain Saw out! |

Thankyou for clarifying that miggit. I'm currently trying to decide between going down the Grom route or going for the BM54 upgrade as can be done by Carphonics, as I don't particularly want to be pulling the dash apart. I'm capable of doing it, Id just rather not.
