Lowering my RR?

Hope I'm posting this in the right section. If not, would a kind mod please move it to the correct place? TIA.

I am wondering...hoping, actually...whether there is some way in which my L 322 could be lowered further than the access height? The problem in essence is my young Bernese. Yes, it is doable via utilising doggy ramps but, especially in town with narrow car parking spaces, faffing around with the ramp is tedious if not impossible.

All my previous Bernese jumped in and out of my previous P 38 without problem. But this model is not merely a couple of inches higher but the tail gate is not folding down as low as my P 38 or my Classic RR.

Is there ANY way of reducing the access height? Or, alternatively ( as per my husband's suggestion ) any way how I could lower the back only with the front suspension staying up?

MTIA!

Nope, not without removing all the air from the suspension. Puppy/Dog ramps are the way to go, or a step?

However, if this makes the car not fit for purpose you have just the model I have been looking for, for over 18 months!, as long as you have a sand or ivory interior Smile .

Ah, bummer. Faffing with the ramp must continue....

My interior is all black, sorry Smile

What a pity - wish RR would come up with a "large/heavy/old dog" access solution. If our car parking spaces wouldn't be so piddly in size, getting out the ramp in town wouldn't be that much of an issue. Alas, they are and it is.

Since I love the dog more than the car looks like my RR days are over. Beastly.

Or buy an L405 Whistle

Mine will drop several levels and you can lower it from the remote like this Thumbs Up

Still might not be low enough though......

I produce a plug-kit that will lower and raise MY07 and later L322s and some other vehicles using a driver-operated switch to signal a module that modifies height sensor signals. It can lower by 20 mm or 50 mm and 50 mm puts my MY12 on the bump-stops when used in conjunction with access height. However is 50 mm lower enough? I still have to help my wife's St Bernards in and out.

Odd isn't it, more of a problem for the bigger dogs than the smaller ones. I guess a Jack Russell simply "boings" up into the back of an L322 like Tigger Very Happy .

Snort. Why, of course! Why not buy the large puppy dog a spanking new RR. Must fall under "diligent owner" costs...grin.

Still, my car is due a service anyhow so I shall sniff around the L405 and check out the boot access height.

I actually can't believe that I am seriously contemplating buying my large breed pup a suitable RR. Yet, here I am....

Hmmm, 50 mm equates to roughly 1.5 " - is that right?

Likely not enough but I shall bear it in mind. Thanks for letting me know. Out of interest - how much is the kit and fitting cost?

If lowering just the rear onto the bumps tops will give you a low enough height it can be done quite easily .
You will need to route the tubing to the rear bags to a suitable place such as into the little cubby on the left in the rear , then fit 2 of these vented valves
http://www.swagelok.com/en/catalog/Product/Detail?part=SS-42GVS4
Closing the valves will automatically drain the 2 rear bags , and you'll simply open them to fill back with air to raise the rear .

You'll end up with a "Suspension Inactive" fault, and it will do a lockout Shocked

There maybe some mileage in 'T' ing in to the air lines for the rear and using the valves to dump all the air from the bags, but the engine would have to be off and the key out! If your lucky, that way it will just think there is a leak and fill the Air Bags back up on starting, without the fault..... But I am only guessing now, haven't really tried to get the car on the bump stops..... most of us spend all our time trying to stop that from happening Wink Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer...
