On these forums, a fair few of us have them, but not, I think, the majority. It would then follow that, for LR owners as a whole, it is an even smaller percentage, however, the number will be growing and as the vehicles get older, more people will be in a position to use and need them. Thumbs Up

There are 2 IID Tools, one GAP one BT, BT IID is nearly £500 whilst the GAP IID is £287 on fleeBay? is it really THAT much better at £500?

The viewing and graphing of multiple live values, general ease of use, and ability to save fault codes, logs and screenshots quickly make a huge difference. The BT also covers all vehicle types, rather than just the specific model (though enhanced functions are still VIN specific). Wink

With the eBay one you also need to factor in £60 for the additional VIN unless that's included

IID tools are locked to a single car

Even without that -IMHO it's worth the extra to have a new one with the BT functionality

Mine’s the non-BT IID, quite adequate for my needs. Thumbs Up
I am no more than a competent DiY-er but I’ve used it to clear all historic faults, enabled the beep on setting the alarm, all doors unlock at once, Bluetooth phone module re-flashed (now our iPhone pairs with it), Nav On Go enabled (for reversing camera installation), turned off automatic relock after 2 min., … and probably more I’ve forgotten about.
Good value for money, and it’s small enough to keep in the glovebox just in case … It's "bébéchoon", ackcherly, with accents. 'Steve' to my chums.
20 years ownership of Solihull products, ALL GONE NOW, sniff!
Current motor: Suzuki S-Cross 4WD auto, 1.4 petrol. Oh so reliable! 7 years now and no problems. Oh, all right then, a leaking shocker replaced under guarantee.

I think they can be unlocked for a particular model (all L322's or all Disco 4's etc) or for any car (for a fee), but yes as a rule they're normally locked to one vin only.

The non-bluetooth version does very nearly as much as the BT version, but the biggest benefit has to be the usability of the BT version, it's so much easier to use on a phone or tablet rather than the steering wheel buttons and dash display. Plus if your dash display fails you can still access the IID tool.

^^Plus you don't need to be in the car with the BT version which is useful when checking some functions rather than trying to see the dash from outside.. For example, if re-calibrating the air suspension it should be done without anyone in the vehicle. John

Should have said all covered vehicle types. For standard functions on the former, yes - D3, D4, RRS (L320 + L494), FFRR (L322 + L405), FL2, Epoke and Defender (07-on). (While enhanced functions remain locked, a license can be purchased for any of the covered vehicles on the BT model - so essential for owners with multiple different LRs.) Wink

The latter, not presently...but other vehicles may potentially be introduced - GAP are hoping to cover some Jaguars for a start. Thumbs Up Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK

To be more specific, £25 to change the VIN for a new owner (free to swap vehicles for an existing owner), £60 is to add a VIN. Thumbs Up Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK

I use RSW AllComms - seems to do pretty much anything I asked so far , including Gearbox Temp, Suspension Recal.

You do need a laptop though. Howard

Feature editing

There's a few things I'd like to tweak but I can't bring myself to shell out £400 to relieve myself of a few minor irritations (like it not unlocking the back doors).

I don't need to read & reset codes (have a mate) & I don't want to fiddle with my suspension or any of the other stuff that he IID does.

Is there a cheaper way of just doing CCF editing?

Is it possible to set the screen so it doesn't come on (unless I switch it on). That is a major annoyance! 2008 TDV8 Vogue
