A simple unplug removes this part which the L322 Workshop Manual 2007-2010 describes as a "Pollution Sensor".

The part on our car was actually the following genuine BMW part/ number:
S 6411-8 391 470

The new part arrived from Duckworth's yesterday (great service within 48 hours of placing the order, thank you Dan).

It arrives in a LR box and is in fact the identical BMW branded part that I pictured on this post.

Fitted the new part this morning, plugged in the IID tool, cleared the fault, switched everything off, started it all up again and the fault is now gone. Job done!

Thanks for the replies to the post which made this a quick and easy fix Thumbs Up

Sorry to resurrect this thread but does anyone know where this is on the 4.4 TDV8 MY 2011? It doesn't look like its in the same place, or at least I cant find it!

Thanks for the response - sincerely appreciated. It’s not behind the drivers door mirror though 😁

After I posted, I went and had another good look; on a UK car, it’s on the right hand side about half way up/down the rad assembly, on the back, next to the large air pipe that comes down from the air cleaner box.

To get access, the air cleaner whole box really needs to come out (a lot easier than it sounds) as well as the upper part of the air pipe u-bend from the air cleaner - the right angled part.

The part push-clips in place. Very easy really, just looks more involved than it is. I’ve taken pics pics of when I did mine this morning & will post here shortly after my bacon roll! Thumbs Up
