Do all you LR owners/forum members have IID Tools?

The reasons I ask is that firstly, my new purchase came up with suspension inactive fault as I drove to work this week enjoying the country lanes as I do, my car was in the 14 days money back period so I asked the Trader to stump up or have it back, so it's booked in for an AMK compressor coming from Dan at Duckworths.

Secondly, when reading all your helpful posts, there seems to be a common theme that you are all able to investigate faults on your cars and duly fix saving a small fortune I'd imagine.

Case in point, my local garage who looks after me, apparently, has charged £71 to tell me "yep you need a compressor and our price is £505 plus VAT" Shocked quick call to Dan and the superior AMK one is £385 plus VAT Confused next, "it's 2 hours to fit (20 mins on YouTube!!) the compressor and £70 for the software update, and this is being looked after Big Cry Big Cry

Okay, I don't have to pay but I still don't want the Trader I bought the car from to get spanked necessarily, he's been very accommodating!!

The fact is, problems will bing up on the dash from time to time, it's what these cars do and I'm expecting it as part of my ownership, I don't want to keep shelling money out to get the error code to isolate the faulty part, there is nothing complex plugging in a drag tool and reading the fault, then once you know the faulty part you may be able to DIY it or get a quote to swap that part out and then finally and cruseally, remove the error yourself. Save a fortune!!!

One of the first things I bought for mine.. Although not used often, it is usually at the most inopportune times you'll need it!

Saved me a fair few quid I'm sure.

Going from what the garage has quoted, the supplying dealer can get a compressor from Dan, fit it, and buy you your own IID from Island 4x4 (so you can update the software yourself) Whistle

I got one ( cheap old type ) and it's great. Faults seem to come and go but I turn on loads of options that weren't there when I bought the car. Park heat , locking after 20 mph , self Looking if you don't open a door after unlocking with remote etc

Fault clearing alone is priceless,

Enabled steering wheel dual lazy exist mode, reset adaptive setting gearbox to clear it once flushed and runs so much better,

Will use it for once I have the facelift done for fog monitoring disabling,

The list is huge

For ease of use the BT Iid tool

If you are a electronics guru the MSV extreme

But GAP support is awesome Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Current vehicles

For me, having used T4/IDS/Autologic/Faultmate/IID/Hawkeye and Nanocom diagnostic tools, the one that stands out for me is the IID

Idiot proof to use
Massive capabilities
Tech backup is 2nd to none

I never go anywhere without it Bow down

IID Tool is the only one worth looking at, I brought a iCarsoft 930 when my EAS went up the swanny, but I soon found out that it is only really good for EAS reset and not a lot more, in the end I bit the bullet and got the BT IID Tool. It was a bit of a Big Cry moment when it came to pay, but it wont take me long to get the money back..... it's a Range Rover, expense is part of the spec Laughing but this way I don't have to fork out to stealers to find out what's wrong Thumbs Up

There are other similar priced products out there, but I think you'll find that the IID Tool does more than the others, with the possible exception the the stealers kit, but then your talking new car money there Shocked Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

I've got a non Bluetooth one that doesn't work on 2010MY onwards so it's redundant on ours (costs £25 to contact GAP and get the device licensed for full use on another RR). This thread reminds me that GAP offered me a £180 cost to trade up to the Bluetooth version we'd need for ours... But as our latest is so far behaving, haven't done anything yet Neutral

After buying my R/R joined here looking for info, soon realised I needed an IIDTool, so far used to,
Clear faults that come as standard with car
Turn off TPMS
Turn off annoying key in ignition noise
Enable alarm chirp
Enable auto locking
Enable FBH and cabin heating
Clear gearbox adaption after flush
Alter hot & cold bulb monitoring
Drop ride height 10mm
Set follow me home lights
Update phone module
And probably I few more I have forgotten, it has saved me an absolute fortune on trips to Stealers to have codes read and things set to my liking, buy one Thumbs Up

I used to have one but now I have a "Bodsy" Thumbs Up

I also have the Faultmate but never bought a new licence from my D3 days. The cost of that alone would almost cover 2 IID tools.

If I was to buy another IID it would be the PRO version as it can do multiple vehicles without buying new licences. For the price it has to be the best value out there by a very long chalk.

The PRO version is only good value if you run a business or have a lot of mates with FFRR's

It's only 60 for an additional vehicle on the regular tool.

The PRO costs an extra 1200 in the first place, then 500/year for upgrades......
