Can a L405 RR get through a 7ft width restriction?

The literature says with wing mirrors out the car is 2.2 meters wide = 7.22 feet. What is width with mirrors folded in?

I presume the height of the wing mirror location probably means they are not an issue with regards to the bollards, its more simply the width of the track. Are surround sound cameras useful in this instance?

Width with mirrors folded in is 2.073, that's more than 2" inside 7 feet, 1 inch each side would be interesting at 70 mph. letters not necessarily in the right order

1" either side at 5mph - I would be worried if a regular occurence, as one day you will 1" out  Paul
L405 now sold

Our L405 is parked in an open fronted barn the entrance to which is between oak posts which are 7ft 4ins apart. I would not want to try to go through a narrower gap on a regular basis.

7ft is 2134 mm. If the 7ft is just a kerb, then no problem. The track is 1690, so from outer tyre wall to outer tyre wall is about 1950. The surround cameras are really helpful and the Kerb View will show you the tyre walls at the front on either side. If you have to fold the mirrors the cameras still work, but of course as the camera is on the mirror the view is now outward and so won’t help you.
If the 7ft is between bollards or walls…well: the widest point of the body work (as shown on the diagram from the Handbook) is top of the wheel arch, which isn’t measured on the official dimensions in the Handbook: it looks to me to be about an additional 40mm out beyond the tyre (on each side), giving a total bodywidth of 2110. That looks to me to be slightly more the width at the mirrors if they are folded, about 2070 (folding the mirrors saves about 75mm each side). So for a 7ft gap you have 12mm clearance on each side . Hope you are a good driver. Er…why don’t you try it and let us know how you get on?

Agree about vulnerability top of wheel arches in tight situations. Always get hedge scratches there and needs some form of rubber wing protector perhaps.

Did you mean 40mm rather than 400. It's a man thing overstating length

My (single) garage door must be about 7' wide and with mirrors folded there was about an inch on either side of a 405. I found that a bit tight for comfort, the 322 is much more manageable and I agree with pjb that this has potential to add stress to the 405 ownership experience. It was quite a squeeze to get in and out once the car was inside too. Perhaps the new technology where the car can park itself in a tight space with the 'driver' outside the car will help, but Q what happens if the battery goes flat when the car is in the garage.

The 405 mirrors may look better and cause less wind noise, but they seemed to me to fold in less and be longer, with the shape also causing a swirl effect that draws drips of water on to the mirror glass. Only Range Rovers since 1988

Hmmm ....my rat run .... think I need Land Rover to create a Park Assist function for width restrictions !

Have a look to see if the surround cameras would work if you can get a test drive car with it. I'm assuming that you are still looking to buy one and want to make sure if this works ??

Also have a look at the bollard width as suggested to see what it really is. If it is (substantially) more then I wouldn't worry about it, if it is really tight it means slowing down a lot to get through. I would also check the kerb to kerb distance and make sure your wheels aren't coming too close there either !!!

It is not nice to be so close on width but also it is not the end of the world if the detour is a much longer journey !! MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!

I'd be inclined to measure the width of your car at the height of the bollards accurately and then measure the actual gap between the bollards.
You do realise that if your car does fit and you use the road regularly some halfwit council jobsworth will appear as if by magic and reduce the gap to 6ft 6in.
