WINTER Protection to the extreme FFRR

If your like me & love your FFRR then here's what I have done to both FFRR we have

WAX OIL the entire chassis - masking up all the rubber components ( I used foil as its easy to shape & see - Rubber boots & Drive links etc )

REMEMBER - if you do this NEVER get under the car as the air suspension can lower at any time
use AXEL STANDS in the 4 side mount jacking points - raise car on max off road height - boot top & lower tail gate open - or do as I did use a work pit or car ramps - safety first.
Hint - warm Wax oil can in hot water for 20 minutes - add 10% white spirit to mix - use air compressor with pro sprayer set on narrow spray to get to the bits you are spraying - spray in even coats - drying time approx 1 hour in warm weather

again I hope this helps with your winter protection

Range Rover for life - look after her and she will look after you - FACT

both cars - every year since new - I spray coat again a light covering - extra protection - remember to coat Brake lines with Wax Oil - salt is bad news for them

Good luck with yours Thumbs Up

Top job, looks excellent and should help a lot... Thumbs Up

Keeping the boot or tailgate open doesn't effect the EAS, leaving a door open will prevent it from moving at all, i.e. self levelling, as you say, axle stands are a must though if you are going underneath... Pete

@Emirates777 - did you take the wheels off to get good access around these areas, or was it not needed ?? Regards

Hi Mark ( proser )

I did this in 2 stages

1. Every six months I take the wheels off to clean and inspect the rear parking brakes on both cars ( as they can build up with brake dust ) - when wheels off I took off the discs & removed the stone shields to each - to Wax Oil in Black and lower suspension brackets & bolts.

DON'T TRY TO USE THE CLEAR Hammerite - when you spray the stuff you cant see it - and besides Black looks nicer

2. You can do this with all wheels on ( apart from the above ) - but ensure you mast all Rubber boots and Rubber joints up - Hammerite is not nice to these - it goes like a hard rubber when dry

The wheels & calipers could be covered with something like Cling film - but if the jobs worth doing DO IT RIGHT

FORGOT TO SAY - WEAR A GOOD FACE MASK & EYE PROTECTION !

Hope this helps - Fly Emirates Thumbs Up
I am thinking of doing the A380 next Bow down

Hi Pete & Mark

forgot to post this -

if you want to go down the route I did - Don't forget to take off both Rear & Front bumpers

behind them are the Mounting brackets - these will go rusty ( have a look at yours ) - by Spraying Hammerite over them they are weather sealed for life - NO MORE RUSTY BOLTS
Oh - I haven't wash the car for a month hence the Censored on her in picture ( pic shows Lower rear tail gate & bumper )

Again - hope this is helpful to you all

see you on board sometime soon - Fly Emirates Thumbs Up
