brake pad warning light but cant find any faults

I replaced front discs and pads a few thousand ago ( no warning lights at that stage ) and ive just had the BP warning light coming on /going off through a journey.

Appears to be one warning sensor per axle .

rear one appears to have been unplugged and taped up by a previous owner but for the purposes of elimination ive completely unplugged the cable for now from the box under the rear inner wing .

Ive also completely unplugged the front cable from the black junction box as well.

Ive still got the warning light so I'm assuming ive got a short further up the line somewhere? any ideas?

ive tried searching available topics on here but all are about changing the pads , which ive now eliminated

Brake Pad sensor works on a completed loop, if you've unplugged parts the loop is broken so you will need to wire the system so that it has a complete loop

ah ok thanks , I thought the sensors was activated on a earth through the wire to the disc , if its a open circuit activation I will close both loops and I should be good, thanks

If it's anything like BMW.there is a resistor in the sensor and the ecu will only turn the light off if it sees a new sensor (different resistance) on the end of it,so a sensor change may be needed even if the pad wear has not got that low
But it may be different on a ff ,just a thought

don't think its that Iron horse because I changed the front and kept the original sensor and I was ok for a few thousand , I'm sure its the back one that was disconnected and taped up, probably an open circuit under the tape

Just get a new sensor they are less than £20, and are plug and play. Thumbs Up There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

When I replaced the rear pads the sensor was cracked at the elbow of the pad insert, I successfully broke it, and had a rear bad warning, bought a new rear lead from LR, fitted it and after a couple of minutes, the warning reset itself was @£20 for gen LR Regards

think beyond the box (its a rangerover)
Tha pad light comes on when the ecu thinks you need new pads not necessarily when they have worn out, depending on how hard you are on the breaks depends on if you beat the ecu thinking they are worn out
