Setting electric steering column into auto mode.

My previous RR steering wheel pulled into dash when ignition went off and back out when on. My latest 2012 does not, it adjusts manually but does not move on parking. The manual refers to a setting that lifts the steering wheel and lowers the drivers seat when opening the door to assist entry/exit, it says the steering adjustment needs to be put in auto mode but it does not say how to do it. Does anyone know how to engage it??

It's in your driver settings on the dash. I think it's called lazy seats...

On the steering wheel adjuster, is there an auto and manual switch. If so set to auto.

Thanks. I will have a look at the menu. There is no button on the column. 2012 4.4TDV8 VSE

On the steering column you have an adjusting knob to raise or lower and move in or out, try twisting this knob for auto or manual control.

Don't you just love people who ask for help then cannot be bothered to acknowledge those who respond, regardless of whether the replies were helpful or not. Twisted Evil

I've read a few threads on the steering wheel moving out of the way when getting in and out of the car. Mine does not move and looked at the adjustment lever and I've tried to twist it but it doesn't want to twist. Or maybe I'm not trying hard enough. But dont want to break it trying too hard. On the seat bit, sometimes my seat moves down and back and other times it doesn't. Rolling Eyes

I was referring to the information shown in the quick start guide in TOPix under "Comfort Adjustments".

Mine doesn't twist. Pull towards or away for reach and up and down for tilt. Unless it has changed with the later models? John

I'm sure I read it got turned off by default around 2007ish because of all the failed adjuster mechanisms

mine is off, not bothered turning it back on

Thanks for feedback. I tried the lazy exit setting in the tft screen menu and it still doesn't pull the wheel in when the engine is turned off. As my TD6. The manual adjustment does work though. 2012 4.4TDV8 VSE

I've also set the lazy exit setting on my 2011 4.4 tdv8 and nothing happens.

I also have an issue with the memory settings not being used when I unlock the car. I have to select the required memory button to get the seat to move to my position after I get in. This did work on my previous L322. Can anyone confirm if it is a dealer setting as the manual makes no mention of it.

2011 MY

Steering wheel will raise when I turn off ignition and open driver door. The steering wheel does not adjust in towards the dash, but it does raise.

My seat does not move when I turn off ignition and open driver door. But, my seat is already at the lowest position, and back pretty far (I'm 6'2")

On my old 2003 I don't remember the seat ever moving, but the steering wheel went up and in when I shut off the ignition.
